[What the Vine reveals this time is quite a sight. A young woman stands, angrily tying a fur skirt around her waist over her pants, hair hanging messily in her eyes. To the side sits the white shift she doubtless woke up in, in a crumpled heap and smoldering in more than one place. Now dressed, she picks up a scroll, the edges signed, and wrenches it open only to let out a furious huff a few moments later.

Then she stomps closer to the mirror and reaches out to grab the edges, pulling it in close to her face. She does not look happy. At all.]

Hey! I don't know how this thing is supposed to work, but somebody out there had better tell me who this Queen is and where I can find her. I'm the Avatar and if she thinks she can just snatch me and put me in a dress? Oh, she has got another thing coming.

[... Did this person light their dress on fire? Well whatever, she's not exactly in a good mood either, time just suddenly... passed? Whatever, she's thinking it's probably some weird garden thing, and it's time to be moody.]

Oh, we'd all like a chance to get out of this place, but it isn't exactly easy!

[Well that's definitely not the answer Korra was looking for.]

So what! You think that's gonna stop me? Nobody keeps the Avatar where she doesn't want to be, I can tell you that much.

Just tell me where this stupid Queen is, like I said.

Yeah, well, I don't even know what an "Avatar" is, so that doesn't really mean much to me! There probably aren't any people who know what that is too!

And if I knew where she was, do you think I'd be staying here and not going up there to teach her a lesson myself?

[poutbender]

Uh, excuse me? What rock have you been living under? I'm the bridge between the spirit world and the living world! I'm a master of all Bending! [Well. Almost all.]

This is traditional Water Tribe attire, thank you. Haven't you ever seen it before?

[No, she's a little too taken aback at first to even speak. Deep breaths, Korra. Control your temper. Try that meditation junk.]

It's, you know, one of the four major nations in the world? Live at the South and North Poles? Waterbenders?

No matter who or what you are, you can be taken here. That matters not.

The Queen will have her little game. Perhaps if you ask, she may reply, but she does so very rarely. Even more rarely is she seen.

[She pauses, then smiles.]

You didn't burn your refuse very well.

[poutbender]

Oh, trust me, she's going to see me. I don't care how important she thinks she is.

[At that she looks down at the smouldering shift. A look of utter distaste crosses her face. She snaps off a quick, direct punch, and a plume of flame quickly engulfs the shift. There's nothing left, this time, but a circle of scorched earth.]

There.

[histrionic]

It isn't very likely, I'm afraid. Beings of great power reside here... None yet have located our elusive monarch. She hides herself well, and this is her domain. But I will be impressed if you do.

Much better. [She's amused by this display and continues to smile.] Trash should be destroyed completely.

Are you a magician?

Well, there aren't many greater than the Avatar. And when I say I'm gonna do something, I do it.

It definitely deserves it. The nerve.

Ma-what? I'm a Bender. You know. Fire, Earth, Water?

Avatar. I'm the master of all bending, the spiritual link between worlds, the keeper of balance. Man, none of you guys really know anything about this?

Tao doesn't know what any of those words mean. So nope!

Riiiight. Basically, it means I'm really strong, and I'm kind of like a hero.

Avatar, I have been appointed by the Queen to torment you.

[Today, she felt like messing around with those Dreamers. Watching the endless rounds of confused newcomers and explanations over the Vine had finally bored her to the point where she decided to shake things up a little.]

Excuse me? Listen, missy, you can just take me right to your Queen and fast, or we're gonna have a problem.

The Queen doesn't see people. [Well, at least that one was the truth pretty much.]

An avatar-- you don't look an awful lot like the embodiment of an idea, are you an incarnated god of some sort, then?
[Reeve smiles in a commiserating manner.]

Whatever the case, I'm afraid the Queen will prove quite difficult to find-- or understand, for that matter!
I recommend you get a grasp of the Garden in general terms before setting off on a quest to teach her a lesson.

Uh, sort of. I'm just the keeper of balance in the world, you know? And every time an Avatar dies, they're reincarnated. I'm the newest one.

Huh. I guess that makes sense. [Not that Korra looks happy about it, by the way, but she can reluctantly agree on getting her bearings.]

I'm afraid we haven't anything of that sort of my world-- an Avatar, or anything like that.

I'm curious, how exactly do you "keep the balance" in your world-- and, the balance of what, exactly?
Sorry to bombard you with questions, but I am curious!
