Book 1 [Video]
[What the Vine reveals this time is quite a sight. A young woman stands, angrily tying a fur skirt around her waist over her pants, hair hanging messily in her eyes. To the side sits the white shift she doubtless woke up in, in a crumpled heap and smoldering in more than one place. Now dressed, she picks up a scroll, the edges signed, and wrenches it open only to let out a furious huff a few moments later.
Then she stomps closer to the mirror and reaches out to grab the edges, pulling it in close to her face. She does not look happy. At all.]
Hey! I don't know how this thing is supposed to work, but somebody out there had better tell me who this Queen is and where I can find her. I'm the Avatar and if she thinks she can just snatch me and put me in a dress? Oh, she has got another thing coming.

Much better. [She's amused by this display and continues to smile.] Trash should be destroyed completely.
Are you a magician?
no subject
It definitely deserves it. The nerve.
Ma-what? I'm a Bender. You know. Fire, Earth, Water?
no subject
Oh, I quite agree. My own arrival was slightly incendiary.
[Avatar, Bender: these terms are meaningless to Kuja.]
Ah, you're an elemental mage of some sort?
no subject
Ha. I don't blame you.
[The word mage is equally meaningless to Korra.] Well, I mean, I can manipulate the elements, so. Yeah, I guess, if that's what being a mage is.
no subject
An elemental mage does manipulate the elements, but in general, a mage or magician is someone who can use magic.
no subject
I don't think we have "magic" where I come from.
no subject
Such a large task. And so admirable. You must be very powerful, to do all that.
No magic at all? [There are others who are from worlds without magic, she knows, but at least they've heard of it--and their world might have it yet they're too foolish to know how it works.] A shame. Magic is a beautiful art.
[She conjures a globe of light, which floats above her palm, then another and a third. They twirl there over her hand, and she could easily cast a devastating spell, but she is on her best behavior in the Gardens.] Capable of many things.
no subject
Huh. Pretty. [She watches the orb floating in the air, almost transfixed for a moment. She's seen incredible things in her day, but something so simple and fragile is unique.] All we have where I come from is Bending.
no subject
[So is Kuja, technically, but she's not going to mention that--it's not exactly something to be proud of at this point.]
Magic can be quite beautiful, yes.
We have elemental magic, and spells that create fire, wind, and lightning, or break the earth into pieces but I suspect what you're speaking of is quite a different technique.
