[The writing is controlled, carefully printed little letters that come slowly, as if the writer was striving for perfection in every line.]

Recent events make this a necessary question to ask.

What would be your reaction if you were being blackmailed?

[ Momoko appears on the vine, smiling proudly to whomever might be watching. There are shadows beneath her eyes and she sways on her feet -- whatever she's up to, it's cost her many hours of sleep -- but the look of accomplishment on her face never flits or falters.

A two-story building looms behind her, mostly white stucco, but the ground floor is painted a very comely lavender.
]

Ladies and gentle maidens, please stay tuned for a very exciting announcement. I, Momoko Ryugasaki, have toiled day and night to bring you... [ she pauses for effect ] the Gardens' very first Baby, the Stars Shine Bright boutique!

[ The view shifts over her shoulder to get a better glimpse of the store, warmly-lit from within, and window displays full to bursting with Lolita fashion and accessories. ]

It's packed wall-to-wall with all your Lolita needs, from knee socks to parasols. I also do commissions and special orders in exchange for soil. Please direct all inquiries to my apartment on the second floor. If I'm not in, leave a message in my mailbox.

[ Momoko's mouth splits open in a yawn and her eyelids droop as she tips over to the left and out of sight, dead asleep. ]

[As sunset falls on the Gardens and the stars begin to appear in the sky, deep below the earth (or whatever it is), the Isle of Antikythera is unnaturally still--well, more still than usual, since the entire place is unnatural by its nature. Only when the sun vanishes in the world above does its life, such as it is, spring into action.

A seemingly endless stream of robots begins to walk or roll across the bridge between the two realms and clamber up the staircase. If either of these routes is blocked, they will dismantle the blockades or simply fly. Once in the Gardens, they pour out of the Viridian Pavilion and begin setting up shop across the land. Unfortunately, to do that, they have to tear down what's already there, and that they do. Trees are crushed by turning gears, flowers mown down, the more fragile buildings wrecked as the robots busy themselves with exploring and claiming their surroundings.

Just what are these robots like? It's hard to say--there are many kinds. Some buzz and whirr through the treetops, and others skitter through the undergrowth. None are much larger than a grown person, although some have weaponry that makes them more dangerous than one. Circuits and silicon are nowhere to be seen in these creations, but gears and levers are everywhere. All share one thing: they seem to be somehow aware. Look long enough, and you'll find some sort of face on even the least humanoid of the lot, watching you, trying to figure out what to do with you. The funny thing is, they're not exactly hostile. Destructive? Oh, yes. But they don't attack people unless attacked first.

Still, there are an awful lot of them, and they don't seem to understand that property damage is bad.]

[Signum appears on the mirrors in nothing but a towel and her necklace. Judging from her dripping hair and the concerned and slightly irritated look on her face, she seems to have been interrupted from a bath by the sound of crashing gears and clanking machinery outside the window - sound which can be heard over the video even if it's not happening in your neck of the woods.]

Did the Queen hire out the beings on the new island as gardeners, or are we being attacked somehow?

[The Vine flickers on just in time to catch one of the robots stumbling back into view, metal arms pinwheeling. Rico launches herself in a moment later, swinging out with that cyborg arm of hers to strike the machine in the chest with a teeth-rattling blow. If it had teeth.]

Ay, cabron!

[There's a large gash obvious on her face, curling from just below her nose and all the way across the right side of her face, up to slice her ear nearly in two. She's got more cuts on her arms, and red blooms across her wifebeater. But if it's slowing her down, she's not showing it. Instead she punches the robot again, this time with her flesh hand. Blood smears on dented steel from where the skin breaks on her knuckles.

Then she throws up her metal hand in an uppercut, and the robot's head snaps back and breaks, small gears spinning through the air in all directions as they're wrenched free. It collapses back to the ground, and Rico just stands there, panting heavily. There's murder in her good eye, and her teeth are peeled back in a sneer, blood smeared over them.

Before your eyes, though, you can probably see some of those cuts knitting together and shrinking, even though the blood remains. She licks around her teeth, then spits down on the robot. It comes out pink, naturally.]

Fucking stay down. Y chinga a tu madre. Asshole.

[Then she glances over at the mirror, scowling.]

Wanted a fucking peepshow, huh? Well you can choke on it.

[Lithuania is just staring in complete fascination at the robots as they go about their... Whatever they're doing. She recognizes bits and pieces of what the robots are made of, but that they're moving on their own... Can she speak to them? She's not sure. There are a lot of strange things here. Might as well give it a shot.]

Um, what are you doing?

[At length she becomes aware one is looking at her--she thinks--and she stares back for a bit.]

H-here, you should be more gentle. That's not your property, so it's not fair to destroy it... Build where there aren't things already...?

[She has no idea if this is working at all. Or if it can even understand her. Or. Anything, really. Frankly, she doesn't even have anything here they can destroy. But still...]

Um, does anyone know what they're doing...?

[A woman stands in front of a mirror, one hand on her hip as she looks off into the distance. In the background, the sounds of things being destroyed can be heard. Rather than sounding alarmed, the woman sounds incredibly amused, punctuated by the half-grin she throws in the direction of the mirror]

Travel far enough into the fringes of open space, and you find a garden with cute critters. That's good to know, but I think I took a wrong turn out in the Outer Rim. I'd ask where you hid my ship, but that seems pointless. [she goes back to watching the robots]

Looks like you need to recalibrate your droids, by the way. It doesn't seem like they've had any memory wipes recently. Tsk. A good blaster shot should take care of them before they hurt someone... Or if you have some tools. [the woman tilts her head, looking incredibly enraptured at this point as she glances back] Tools. Now.

[Nagato had been silent for a great deal of time, spending most of her self imposed exil estudying the world around her and indulging deeply in reading as much of what her library home had to offer. The current robot invasion, however, has caused her daily routine to be distrupted by the constant smashing and bashing noises that interrupt her various intellectual pursuits. Moving to the outdoors for the first time in several days, she intently watches over the various mechanical automatons over while mumbling something to herself in a strange, rapid, language.]

Anyalsis suggests these creatures work on either a clock or steam work assembly with an unknown power source. Further study is needed to confirm these claims and will require the disassembling of a one of these creatures... Does anyone wish to help with this matter?

[VIDEO. you see chrome's face on the vine and it's somewhere in between being distressed and sad, hidden beneath a veneer of calm. it's not working, but she's trying hard. there's no sense to panic when there's a problem at hand to be solved. has she been kidnapped again? if that's the case then she needs to figure out a way back, immediately. but how is she even going to figure that out?

it takes her a while to talk, and when she does, her voice is unsure and a little tired.]

I am looking for a man named Rokudo Mukuro.

[a pause as chrome frowns a bit at that. she doesn't know how much help this would be, but it's better than just wandering aimlessly for the whole day. someone might be able to give her help.

but it also means having to talk to others. and chrome is not really comfortable with the thought of having to broadcast a request to the strangers in this place. still, she bravely pushes on:]

He looks like me.

It's really important I get to see him. Please don't delay me.

[it's not seen in the video feed, but she's actually clutching the ends of her skirt as she makes this broadcast.]

I'm not loyal to queens. I ... [she can't tell them she's got her alliances somewhere, that'd give too much. so what can she say? chrome settles for:] there are people waiting for me. And I don't want to delay things by not being there.

If I am not where they are, then that is a problem.

[she tilts her head at the feed, looking at it thoughtfully. finally, she says,]

I don't mind the animals, though. They are .... very cute.

But I really need to be heading back.

[she makes a small bow to the screen.]

Thank you for listening.

ooc; replies may be slow-delayed tonight, sorry!

[The stomping of the creatures into the Gardens puts a knife of pain up through her guts. The crushed flowers and discarded trees are all shrieking from the damage. She doesn't let it get to her, she's been through worse. A century ago the land was worse than just stomped, it was being drained and rotted and desecrated. She'd lost so many of her chicklings then, and it had hurt her deep and dark.

Doesn't matter if these bots don't compare, she doesn't want anyone getting hurt, so she's heading out to do what she can. Along the way, she encounters the vine and warns,]

Nobody do anything stupid, do you hear me?

[Her voice is stern, more commanding and to the point than she's ever bothered with anyone else, but she means it.

And maybe she still feels that deep debt she owes to all these girls from when it was her rampage that needed to be warned against.]

[[ooc; this whole thing is... kind of Paderau's ~*deal*~ so she'll be trying to tame as many robots as she can. Her log is over here, if you want to do more than just talk to her.]]

[The mirror at first only shows robots marching past, destroying and trampling the Gardens as they go. Really, you might think, why did the Vine even bother? It's not exactly hard to miss the drama going on- no need for this kind of public awareness announcement.

But, see, the Vine sensed something exciting about to happen.]

TIRO FINALE!

[The roar of a single cannon blast; a nigh-blinding burst of light; a massive shot of bright yellow energy shoots into view from somewhere off in the surroundings, obliterating dozens of the robots. Their pieces litter the grass. Then, a small but growing spot of darkness over the busted gears and scraps of metal; the shadow of something falling out of the sky.

Mami gracefully touches down into sight of the mirror, fully transformed and for once not smiling. Unaware that the Vine is recording her, she summons a dozen muskets from thin air with a sweep of her hand. They remain hovering there, by her side, as her cold gaze takes in the damage the robots caused.

It's a very different Mami Tomoe than most in the Gardens know.]

They just won't stop, hmm....? Then neither will I.
