[There's no video, initially--only the sound of a basketball bouncing hollowly, the sound of sneakers scraping against the ground.

The video flickers on. Rose petals--white and red, flutter to the ground, from some unknown source. There's a slightly unnerving moment where girl-shaped shadows flicker along the surface of the mirror before Utena shows up, a triumphant expression on her face.]

Wow, it really worked! [She runs along the court, and the shadows chase after her, along the trees. They stop, one on each tree, facing one another, and seem to be in the midst of a conversation. Utena, however, appears unaware. She shoots a basket, she scores! The Shadow Girls go wild! Complete with shadow pompoms and shadow confetti.

The ball rolls to a stop at her feet, and she frowns and falls into a series of stretches.]

It's no fun without anyone else.

[The shadows appear to be squabbling. Utena scratches the back of her head, and starts to bounce the basketball around again.]

[ooc: Utena's made a basketball court. A...really weird one! Feel free to bug her! Aww yeah. If anyone points out the Shadow Girls to her, she won't notice them. Yeah, I don't get it either. lol weird ass canon.]

[from the way her mouth hangs open, it's clear she's watching in fascination, even if you can't see her eyes.]

Really? I'd like to learn.

[Utena grins.] Okay! Just head down to the court then. It's pretty big; you can't miss it.

[she peers at the mirror for a moment to get a better look, fixing the area in her mind.]

Okay. I'll be there soon.

[she waves, half at Utena and half to make the mirror disappear, somewhat excited. She's never played an actual game before.]

[Utena's waiting around the court, bouncing the basketball and practicing a few plays as she does. She didn't have much experience in teaching basketball, but she would try her best. Besides, it would be a friendly game, and even if nothing much was learned, at least it'd be fun.

The Shadow Play Girls are waiting too, apparently interested in who the new arrival will be.]

[this girl is not exactly dressed for basketball, in that long black cloak. But by the way she approaches, she seems eager enough, glancing around the court with curiosity. The shadows catch her attention, too, and she tenses, watching them warily. They don't seem to be a threat, however.]

[The petals that flutter by at Xion's approach are odd, and Utena watches them curiously. They are black, and fade to a deep blue, but then appear to flicker in and out of focus, disappear.] That's weird...they've never done that. [But then she remembers she has a guest, and waves.] Hi! Looks like you found the place just fine. I'm Utena.

[The Shadow Girls wave too! They don't mean to be scary.]

[she blinks under her hood at them, but doesn't think too much of it. She's seen stranger things.]

I'm Xion.

[she waves tentatively back.]

Are those...shadows?

[She grins.] It's good to meet you!

[However, the question about the shadows has her puzzled. She stares down at her own, and then over at Xion's.] Shadows?

[The Shadow Girls pretend to hide behind a tree, but Utena doesn't notice them doing that either. She doesn't seem to see them at all.] I'm not sure what you mean.

Right there. [she points.] They don't seem like Heartless, but...you can't see them?

[She shakes her head, but she doesn't seem too bothered by her inability to see the shadows.] No. [She shrugs it off.] Just more hocus pocus. I wouldn't worry about it. What's a Heartless?

Hocus pocus?

Heartless...they're monsters made of darkness. But I haven't seen any here yet.
