14th Inversion - Video
[The Vine opens a mirror to anyone passing by it to show the inside of an empty building. A place of finery, there was no movement. No sound. Nothing...
The mirror closes and a few moments later, it opens again, to show the inside of the same building, but a different place. A room untouched. A bed unmade. Trinkets around, but there was a thin layer of dust on them.
Again, the mirror closes and reopens a bit later to show the outside of this building. The gardens. They were untended, but finally there was so movement. Barely visible was a distressed looking Hoppip waving its fronds at something with cries of 'Hoppip! Hoppip!'
A voice responds, quiet but with a cruel edge to it, finally identifying the seemingly abandoned building as the Tohno Mansion.]
Your cries mean nothing to me. She's gone. They're all gone. You should leave, too, before I eat you.
[The Hoppip continues to cry out and draw close until it screams as one frond catches on fire. It flails about, putting the fire out before retreating. To the viewers of the mirror, it was hiding in the garden out of sight of Akiha.]
Go... leave.
[There's movement then as Akiha passes by the mirror, heavy streaks of vermillion running through her black hair. When she glances over at it, there is something distinctly non-human in her eyes. She narrows them, but says nothing, continuing on her way. A few seconds later, the mirror closes.]

Katina's not sure where in the mansion Akiha will be at this point, but she does know that she has to be there.
The gardens are feeling pretty lonely lately and she's not sure if she can handle it very well either, but it's far more important to get to Akiha, even if it means sprinting around the mansion and into the garden. ]

AKIHA didn't care; she wanted the Gardens to burn. She wanted to kill them all - the Queen, the Incarnae, the other residence. Everyone she cared about had abandoned her. All she had left was the voice in her head and the call of her blood...
In fact, she'd assumed Katina had left, too. Subaru was gone and the half-demon hadn't heard anything from the pilot. It was an easy conclusion to make. So when Katina came across her sitting alone on the back porch, hair still that mix of vermillion and black - though far more vermillion than anything else - she wasn't sure what she saw was real. So she said nothing, but she did tilt her head a little.]

She knew Akiha might not want her here, might assume that she wouldn't want to show up, might assume that she's gone as well, and she's not taking it well at all. So, Katina had to find her.
Katina froze, breathing heavily as she finally spotted Akiha on the back porch. Vermillion, almost completely. ]
...Akiha... I'm here.
no subject
[There was a chill in those words, and AKIHA rose to her feet. Her movements were reminiscent of a past time between them and she wasn't even trying to hide the monster she was. She drew close but made no move to attempt to touch Katina.]
I'm not so sure. There is nothing left anymore. Perhaps you are a conjuration of my mind, of the weak girl's broken will, to try to control me again. Though why she would conjure you and not the magician... the magician got her to push me away whereas you caused me to come out to play...
Shall we continue from then, mutt?
no subject
Her hands dropped to her side, gaze just barely meeting her eyes. ]
I'm real. If... you want me to touch you to prove it, then I can.
no subject
[AKIHA slowly circled Katina.]
Maybe if I drain you dry, I'll finally move to claim this Garden as my own. Bleed it dry until there is nothing left to kill. Maybe then... then... [Her gaze faltered for a second and she shook her head just a bit to clear it.]
no subject
[ No and yes. AKIHA wants to kill her and everyone and everything here, and she can understand it. God knows she wants to throttle the Queen on a good day sometimes.
Akiha... would be horrified. ]
I'm here for you, but I know I can't actually do much...
no subject
It only hurts when you resist. But I like it when you resist. It makes your blood run hot and I long to have it upon my tongue.
[Her hand reaches out, but again she stops herself short without actually touching Katina.]
She's denied me that for so long... I should punish her for that and make you scream when I take your blood.
no subject
It's been a while, too. Since either side of you has tasted me... I dunno. Maybe it's what you need at this point, and maybe there's no point to not giving in...
[ She also sounds sad. ]

no subject
Of course, everyone she cares for except for Akiha is gone, and if she can't get her inversion under control... ]
Akiha, you know that... no matter what happens to you or me I love you. You staying like this won't change it. Even being killed by you won't change that.
no subject
[AKIHA finally put her hand on Katina's shoulder and put pressure on it to tell Katina she wanted the pilot on her knees. But her hand was shaking.]
But if you love me... you won't leave me...
no subject
It's easier on both of them if she drops to a knee, looking up at Akiha. AKIHA. Akiha. ]
I really do love you, and if you want me to stay by your side...
no subject
Even when I bathe this Garden in blood?
[AKIHA pushes Katina's hair out of the way and runs her nails along her neck, feeling the blood rushing beneath the skin.]
Hm?
no subject
...I can't leave you. No matter what you do.
no subject
[Those words were whispered, breath on Katina's neck, just before Akiha bit. Her small fangs cut in and blood welled up to fill AKIHA's mouth. She shuddered a bit in the intensity of pleasure, having hot, fresh delicious blood again.]
no subject
A hand reached up to tangle into her love's red hair. ]
And I wouldn't want to...
no subject
It was like Akiha was curled up inside, letting the demon protect her from more hurt. More loss. She'd retreated and relinquished control.
She lifted her head enough to talk, blood sliding down Katina's neck.]
If you try to leave me, I will kill you... and enjoy it.
[Her tongue lapped at the blood.] Because I love you, and killing you would be so intimate...
no subject
She felt warmth running down her neck, head lolling to the side as she looked at AKIHA. How long would she be like this? No... it didn't matter. Katina could stay with her regardless. ]
...you won't... ever have to worry about being intimate like that. Just... if the Queen takes me away from you...
...do exactly what comes naturally to you. [ To hell with you Queenie. ]
no subject
[Her teeth sunk in again, biting once more into Katina's neck. She drank a few more mouthfuls before speaking again.]
You know... she used to write stories. In them you were a warlord. Dark, powerful, strong...
no subject
Katina groaned as Akiha drank from her, but what she said caught her attention. ]
...me? And... what did that make her, in those stories?
no subject
[She paused to drink more blood.]
She resisted so much.
no subject
At the same time, Katina felt like she was the one being pulled in by Akiha. Was this inevitable? ]
She... didn't have to.
no subject
[AKIHA paused again, drinking more and pressing her tongue hard against the bite to help slow the blood flow to something manageable. When she raised her head, she licked her lips, though some blood still clung to them.]
Because of me. Because the last one she loved... I tried to kill him. [She drew close to Katina's lips, her breath easily felt as she spoke.] Because he loved another and tried to leave us.
So she did have to resist the warlord.
no subject
[ Katina ached for those lips, so close to hers, even if it wasn't the Akiha she wanted to kiss. AKIHA wasn't... the same person, and yet she was an integral part of Akiha as well. ]
But she didn't kill me when I two-timed her, and then played it up for as much drama as possible. I trust Akiha... I trust you.
