And... If you're this upset, obviously you're not going to feel better all at once. That's okay. But I'm not going to let you get worse or do anything stupid. Got it?

-And finally... a smile. Soft, fragile, but there.- Got it...

[There's a moment of hesitation, and then... Nue darts in and gives Sanae a peck on the cheek, retreating just as quickly again.]

Can I ask you something?

-Oh wow, that was... unexpected. But appreciated, from the look of the blush on her face.-

Well, I mean... A while ago, when— when we all went kind of crazy, I know the way we felt didn't come from nowhere. So I wanted to know how much you meant of what you said.

I was lashing out at you. Trying to blame you for all of the feelings of failure and worthlessness I was having.

So, I didn't...do something to make you feel that way?

No... you've been nothing but the best friend and girlfriend I could have asked for...

[...Oh. Excuse her if she gets a little wibbly, not that she'll admit to as much. She averts her eyes.]

I don't know if that's true, but I'm really glad you feel that way. I th-thought I really messed up. [Her lower lip trembles a little.] So... Are we still...?

[Yep, definitely getting teary. She nods vigorously.]

-Sanae, too. She sprung forward, hugging Nue tightly, but smiling, smiling brightly and fully, even if tearfully.- I love you so much... I'm so so sorry...

[It's just like when she talked to Kariya a few weeks ago, only being in person makes it harder for her to not just...blubber all over the other person. She's so happy and relieved she can't help herself.]

I th-th-thought I m-me—ssed everything u—p... [She clings right back.] I lo—ve you...

-She can't ever recall Nue being so... emotional. But it was a relief all the same. They'd finally broken past that barrier. And even if it wasn't a magic cure for her depression as she hoped it would be, it certainly made a brighter future believable. So long as Nue was still with her...-

[Really, it made sense for her to get so emotional. How Sanae felt about her had been the last cloud hanging over Nue, and now that it had been cleared away, she could finally let out all that negativity and move past feeling guilty for what she had done. She'll feel better when she has finished.]

[But for now, she's just going to keep up her gross sobbing.]

I th—ought everyone was g-gonna h-h-ha—te me...

[a bloo bloo bloo]

I could never hate you, Nue... Not in my life. You're so precious to me. Even before we became a couple, you were my friend, someone dear to me. That will never change.

[Nue pulls back, scrubs at her eyes, and sniffs a few times. And then... She leans in to smooch Sanae right on the mouth, though the action seems more childish than romantic. She's there and then gone, rubbing at her face again.]

You mean so mu—ch to me... I'm really ha-[hic]-happy...

-It was honestly endearing, regardless.- I should get you a napkin...

Mmm... Okay...

-Well, a tissue, anyways. Still, she brings over the box, taking on and dabbing gently at Nue's cheeks.-

Wh— H-hey! I can take care of this myself, I don't need you to do it for me!

[She says this while making a grab for the box, of course.]

There's nothing romantic about it at all.

[Even if Sanae thinking that way was kind of cute.]

But they do this kind of stuff in manga all the time!

Just because it's romantic in one of your silly books doesn't mean it's romantic in real life.
