[Well, this is... weird. Having a head that isn't squishy and skull-shaped and covered in hair is bad enough, but the light source inside feels strangely warm. Possibly the heat from the pumpkin hot chocolate is sticking around, which is at least convenient with the cooling weather. Still, annoying.

[But Jessica isn't one to let the Gardens' embarrassing cosmetic bullshit get in her way, so she's resolutely keeping to her routine. It has to wear off eventually, right?

[(Definitely lodging a complaint with the management of the cafe, though.)]

[Akiha's jaw set after that as she tried to decide how she wanted to handle this one. She was very upset that had become known. She never intended to let anyone know she'd tried to kill Shiki. That she'd done it because of her jealousy and possessiveness amplified to a terrifying degree while the demon blood was in control of her...

...she didn't even notice the ends of her hair turning vermilion in color.]

Not crazy.

Inverted, then. Sorry, it's... I think you had something going on that doesn't happen where I come from.

I just figured... y'know, the whole thing felt insane. Like when your chemicals are messed up.

Uh, it stops after you, um, revert. So... I don't know if that helps or not. There wasn't a whole lot.

I don't know if there's a way to make up for this. I mean... I could tell you one of mine or something. If it'd make you feel better.

[Jessica: not comfortable with unfixable situations.]

[She turns to leave and that's when she notices her own hair. Stopping she sighs and pulls a section of her long hair in front of her shoulders and looks at the vermilion ends. She sighs. She controls her blood better now, but the red comes out more easier than it used to with her emotions...]

I'm half-demon. What you saw is what happens when my demon blood overpowers my humanity.

[She nods seriously ~~or as seriously as you can when your head is a pumpkin~~ at the explanation.]

Makes sense. That sounds like it sucks worse than what I have.

I just have to deal with occasional bouts of nudity.

[Akiha closes her eyes and calms herself, causing her hair to darken to the black color it normally was.]

Oh, yes, far easier than dealing with the knowledge that you are a monster and have to deal with the constant desire to kill.

Well, the jury's out on the monster thing...

You seem to have it pretty well under control, though. I'm guessing the hair thing is a warning sign?

No. It's my natural hair color. The mark of my heritage.

When I'm inverted, I simply no longer care about trying to conceal what I am.

Still, good idea to, uh, back off on something if it starts showing up? It doesn't seem like you enjoy it much when you're not inverted, so...

At the very least, if you see it vermilion, understand that I'm upset and liable to lash out in anger. So backing off would be wise.

[She glanced back up.] Despite what some people might say, I'm not exactly a nice person.

What I figured.

Y'know, most of the people I've heard say that are better than people that say they're nice. I mean, you're at least trying not to freak out all over people.

Anyway, judging from the fact that this hasn't gotten all over the Gardens, you're trying to keep it quiet, right?

I would say about half the Garden knows there's something up with me. Several months ago, I ended up inverting.

[Which was why Gal moved out of the mansion.]

I regained control, but I did a lot of damage. Still, not many know I'm half-demon. Regardless, I don't want you talking about what I am with others.

[The pumpkin face doesn't register Jessica's surprise at all (not that her actual face would be much more helpful), but the timing and knowledge of Gal's former arrangement do click.]

Assuming no bullcrap from Her Majesty, you can count on me.

I don't think I'd have much reason to talk about it anyway. I mean, you're dealing with it, you can get someone's help if you want to... not really my business.

(Though I'm kind of glad I know about the hair thing...)
