I should have done this a while ago...

[Oh, look. There's Holiday again, this time with her normal clothes (orange shirt, black skirt, knee high boots, and a lab coat ~~because why not~~) on and walking around the garden.]

Well, first off, I should introduce myself more properly, I guess. My name is Doctor Rebecca Holiday and I thought I should offer my services to the Garden. I am a doctor of theory, but I also practice medicine, so if there's something that the snakes can't or won't help you with, I'll be happy to help you out in any way I can.

Also... while the cat's were accommodating, I think... I should start looking for a more permanent place to stay. Trying to find a way out was, as everyone's told me, useless.

Anyone have any selections of places to live?

Just about everything, I think. I'm used to treating a wide variety of wounds, illnesses, and deformities in my home. Comes with the job.

With the right equipment, can you safely draw and store a pint of blood?

[Akiha doesn't bother responding, but shuts her mirror down and prepares some tea while waiting for the doctor.

Soon enough the cat will lead her to the large Western style mansion in the Orchard. The cat knows its not welcome on the mansion grounds, so it'll disappear quickly.]

[Oh... Okay. Well, she's been in places this fancy, so Holiday isn't really taken aback, but this is probably the first time she's gone in a place like this without an escort or bodyguard.]

[Still, she does have manners, so when she walks up to the large doors, she knocks to make her presence known.]

[Akiha takes a moment to remember that she needs to answer the door herself. So a few minutes later, the door opens and a young woman with very long black hair answers.]

Welcome, doctor. I'm Akiha Tohno.

[She gestures for her to follow to the sitting room where tea is set out.]

[Holiday smiles and nods her head to the greeting before following the young lady to a sitting room.]

You have a beautiful home.

[And she really means it.]

Thank you. It's a bit paltry to the real Tohno mansion, but it will do while I'm here.

[She pours the tea and lets Holiday add her own cream and sugar.]

Now, I asked about drawing and maintaining bagged blood earlier. Before I go into more depth regarding that, please tell me a bit about where you are from.

[She nods in thanks for the tea and adds a bit of sugar while the woman continues to talk. At the end of it, she smiles.]

Where I'm from? Well, it's a bit complicated. It used to be a normal place. No magic or superpowers or anything like that, until something called the Nanite Event.

Since then, plants, animals, even some people have been turning into things we call EVOs. They usually grant abilities or intelligence. Something like that. There's not a whole lot to tell, I suppose.

[She was sugar coating it. A lot. Her home had turned into a hell on Earth with people suddenly turning into monsters at the blink of an eye, but she didn't want the real news of her home to get out just yet. She needed to find someone she could trust first. After all, she could be one of those monsters one day and she didn't want anyone to be hurt because of that.]

Hmmm. Good.

[Mutations of some sort. What it told Akiha was that Holiday wasn't unfamiliar with unnatural occurrences and unexplained phenomena.]

Doctor, this isn't a secret [anymore], but it isn't something I like being spoken of. I'm not human - not completely; I'm half-demon.

[... Half-demon...?]

... Oh...

[Holiday. Manners.] I- Uh. I understand keeping things private. Doctor/patient confidentiality and all that.

[Should she worried about the demon part? She doesn't want to be rude and rush the girl, but she's getting a little worried.]

[Don't worry, Akiha continues, her eyes watching Holiday with every word.]

My entire family is descended from demons and the origins of my specific demon blood is very old. It means I am very powerful, but it also means that my demon blood constantly tries to overcome my human side. When that happens, it's called inversion.

I've already undergone inversion, twice now, and have managed to regain control and return to my normal self. Understand that I have an intense hatred for my heritage. Suppressing my demon side does come with a few... drawbacks. Complications.

[Sadly, Holiday is easily putting these pieces together. She's less scared and confused. Now, Rebecca's more serious about what the girl is saying. This isn't entirely unlike the EVOs in her home. Only she turns multiple times and there is a cure, but it's not permanent unless it's on a regiment.]

[In this case, it's not machines, but blood. That's the side of the subject she doesn't really care for.]

I see. What do you need to keep inversion from happening again? [She already knows.]

My willpower. That is literally what keeps me from inverting. I have a very strong will, but there are a lot of things that can weaken a person's will. I am still half-human. I have all the physical requirements humans do.

[Akiha paused to sip her tea.]

But do to the circumstances surrounding my first inversion, I have acquired an intense craving for human blood. I'm not a vampire, doctor. I don't require it for sustenance. My bloodlust is... very taxing on my will. Think of it like a drug addiction.

I used to manage it through bagged blood. Obtaining such from the surrounding hospitals was very easy. Here... there is a lake nearby of human blood - I know it makes little sense - but I've learned where the blood comes from and I can't make myself drink it. I also have two willing donors, but they both have very potent blood and I'm unwilling to drink from them anymore.

I need to find an alternative before my will becomes too weak to resist my demon blood.

... I see...

[She refuses the two willing donors and this... lake of blood. ~~Going to have to keep an eye out for that one.~~ Rebecca can understand fully why she refuses these things, but there seems to be a necessity here.]

I'm sure that you've already tried to ween yourself off...

Did you have other alternatives in mind already? Bagged blood is an idea, but you will have to have donors for that.

[Holiday would be scared of this young woman ~~if she even is young~~, but learning all of this, she isn't anymore. This girl is smart. She wouldn't want nanite infested blood.]

[Akiha is silent for a moment, clearly mulling over what to say, how to phrase things.]

Blood... Blood is a different thing when drank cold from a bag then when drank hot directly from someone. Cold blood has what's needed to numb the bloodlust, but hot blood makes it...

[Her eyes flutter shut as her words trail off just like a person who has just tasted ambrosia might. A few seconds later and she shakes herself, opening her eyes again.]

I have an emotional attachment to both of my willing donors and I've drank directly from them. I'm afraid of what I might do to them if I continue to drink their blood. [sip] If you could collect blood from other humans - full humans - here and I return to drinking the bagged blood, I won't... I won't have to worry about getting a different kind of addiction.

[A far more dangerous one...]

[Rebecca nods, then looks into her tea for a minute, lost in thought. Find other donors that are full humans. That might be a more difficult task than what she thinks. There is some people here that think perfectly normal thing would be so surreal in her world and vice versa. What if the average human was different in every world, too?]

[After a moment, she speaks, but she is still thinking on the situation.]

I would offer my own blood to this. However, after what I called The Nanite Event that I mentioned earlier, every living thing on my planet is infected with something we call nanites. Those are what turns us into EVOs and... some end up better off than others, if you catch my drift.

We never had to worry about spreading the disease back home sine it was already in everyone, but it could spread as an STD here and I won't risk that. I'm sure you'll more than understand.

... Do you happen to have any other donors in mind? Also, if I happen to find you another donor, would you like me to explain the true situation to them or simply ask for blood in case of emergencies?

[Yes, she's willing to lie to others. She doesn't entirely like it, but it's a better idea than doing nothing and she can understand if the other woman doesn't want more people to know.]

The nanites would be poisonous to me. I'd survive, but until it worked out of my system, bad things would happen. There are a pair of cyborgs I am friends with that have also offered, but their blood is the same with nanomachines.

[Akiha set her tea down.]

I've managed to control my cravings to approximately one or two bags a month without it stressing me. [She's gone almost two months now - this is why she can't wait much longer.] I would prefer they not know where their blood is going, but if it must be said, it must be said. And I don't want to know who the blood belongs to unless I experience an adverse effect or an unusual taste in it.

The ones most likely to agree, knowing the reality, are Gal and Akira.

[Rebecca nods. Gal just offered her a place to stay, so this could be easier than she initially thought.]

How soon do you need the blood?

[If she's telling her, a newcomer, all of this, then it must be soon.]

If I go more than two weeks longer without it, I'm afraid of what I will do.

[She nods.]

And you have no emergency stores, I take it?

[Two weeks. Alright. She can do that. She already has a good lie in mind. She just wonders if it'll work... Even if just one person answers, it'll be worth it.]
