sixth bullet :: video/action
[The feed turns on to reveal a large, sunlit meadow that clearly showcases the work of someone who has been working with the magic dirt; a gazebo stands in the center of the clearing, simple in design and yet possessing an old-fashioned sort of charm. The outline of the Monsigny apartment complex can be seen some distance away, a recognizable shape through the thin wall of trees. A pretty picture, to be certain, and yet one devoid of human life; there's no one in sight, much less the one responsible for the gazebo's creation.
Then there's a flurry of motion near the bottom of the mirror's peripheral vision and the feed pans down to show Mami, gesturing to get the Vine's attention. And yet the girl has quite clearly undergone some radical changes; there are cat ears rising out of her hair and a tail peeking out of her skirt to swish around her ankles, both feline appendages a soft golden color to match her curls. She's been severely reduced in size, not much bigger than a pinecone.
Mami looks ridiculous and yet doesn't seem to be bothered by it, given how she appears as unruffled as always. There's no panic, no outrage, just a faintly amused sort of surprise....on the surface, anyway.]
Ah, hello? Can anyone hear me? [the words come out in a squeaky whisper and she clears her throat, trying again in a louder voice.] I'm in something of a predicament, I'm afraid. In making use of the magic dirt, I somehow triggered one of those troublesome side effects; the result is hopefully obvious enough that I don't have to describe it. [A polite chuckle.]
In my current "state" [and here the ears lie flat against her skull for a moment, a clear display of the annoyance her calm smile is attempting to hide] walking back to more appropriate shelter has become a great deal more difficult. If it's not too much trouble, I would appreciate some assistance.
[ooc: Mami has been wildcarded! The area affected is only the gazebo itself, for a couple of hours; comments will be responded to by
nekofinale for icon purposes.]

[She shifts a little on Utena's shoulder.]
You remember where my apartment is, right?
action;
action;
[She had used to do so, in the beginning, but as time went by and the only real threats came from the Gardens itself rather than its residents, continuing the practice seemed fairly pointless.]
action;
[And Utena continues to walk slowly, but purposefully, until the looming shape of the apartment complex comes into view. From there it's only a matter of going up the stairs (she takes one step at a time instead of two, as she normally would, and doesn't jog) until she reaches Mami's apartment door.
She removes her shoes before she walks in, slips into the guest slippers, and pads her way into the living room. She's uncomfortable going any further in Mami's house, so she sits at the low glass table and holds her hand to her shoulder again in order to help Mami climb down.]
action;
Ah, thank you. ....I'd offer you tea, but I think it'd be more than I could handle in this state.
[The ears twitch, threaten to flatten again.]
action;
But no, now isn't the time for thoughts like that! She shakes herself out of her reverie.]
Maybe I could make you tea instead...if that's okay.
action;
....I'd like that, but only if you have some yourself.
[In an attempt to retain some control over the situation:]
Do you need me to show you where everything is?
action;
Mm? Sure. [She does not seem to be paying attention. In fact, she is reaching out a hand...] Sorry, just let me...
[And she finally does reach over to gently scratch behind the cat ears.]
action;
Ah? What are you...
[But then those fingers begin their work before Mami can think to avoid them, and Mami's brain shuts down - overwhelmed by the pleasant warmth flooding in. Her ears and tail bolt upright, and the golden fur bristles as a shiver courses through her. That feels good. Her eyes flutter closes and Mami, incredibly, begins to purr.]
action;
Ah...cute.
[However, when she does realize what she's doing, her eyes widen, and she pulls her hand away as if it's been set on fire. Her face is burning red, and her hand retreats to rest in her lap.]
Um, sorry! Sorry. Geez, I don't know what I was thinking...
action;
When Utena jerks her hand away, the spell is broken, and Mami returns to her senses as if coming out of a daze. Her gold eyes are clouded over with a dreamy expression as she gazes up at Utena, the look fading fast as the world comes back into a humiliatingly sharp focus. Mami's eyes widen and her face flushes just as red as Utena's had - she takes a few hurried steps back and clumsily trips over her own tail. The shock soon gives way to anger as her heart continues to beat loud in her ears, which flatten back against her skull as Mami shoots Utena an embarrassed glare.
She gets unsteadily to her feet and stalks to the other end of the table, her back to Utena and feeling shaken, the anxiety of having her distance breached so suddenly mixing uneasily with the lingering pleasantness of the touch. Her cheeks continue to burn; the restrained coolness in her voice is jarring by comparison.]
...I'll show you where the tea set is, then.
action;
She bites her lip, stands up, and nods.] Um, sure. That'd be good! [It is in her nature, to attempt to diffuse awkward situations with relentless cheer, and this is no exception.] What kind of tea do you like?
action;
A pointed gesture spelling out her current desire to not have Utena touch her again.]
I enjoy many flavors. Perhaps there will be something that suits your tastes, as well.
[Mami saunters off toward the kitchen without a backwards glance.]
action;
Utena follows behind slowly, biting her bottom lip. Maybe she should apologize, she thinks. It might not help with Mami's current embarrassment, but at least the other girl will know that she means it when she says she's sorry.]
Ah...say, Mami-san. Hold on.
action;
[There are drawers beneath the stove. Mami studies them for a moment, then stands on her tiptoes to touch the handle of the bottom-most one.] The kettle should be inside here. Ah, and the tea packets are in that container by the paper towel dispenser. [The item in question is also made of fine china, with a fancy floral pattern curling around the lid.]
action;
You shouldn't ignore people, you know. [A sigh, she runs a hand through her hair.] I wanted to say I was sorry. You...[look really cute when you're small is probably not the best answer, so she decides against that.] look a lot like a cat right now. I forgot for a second. I didn't mean to upset you.
action;
Would you have preferred me yelling at you?
[But Mami relents, somewhat, when Utena apologizes - although those gold eyes are still a touch resentful, and the fur along her tail hasn't quite settled. Finally, she glances away.]
...apology accepted, but please don't forget again. Despite appearances, I'm not a pet, and I don't appreciate being treated like one. It's humiliating. [A pause to let the chiding sink in, then she meets Utena's gaze again. A bit more gently:] Okay?
action;
She does have the sense to look abashed, though, and rubs the back of her head in a nervous gesture.] ...Ah, sorry...I'll remember.
action;
action;
action; keywords yeah!!!
action; aww yeah tea!
All right. [And she carefully stands up.] Just hold on to me.
[AND THEN THEY HAD TEA AND IT WAS REALLY CUTE, THE END!!!]
