sixth bullet :: video/action

[The feed turns on to reveal a large, sunlit meadow that clearly showcases the work of someone who has been working with the magic dirt; a gazebo stands in the center of the clearing, simple in design and yet possessing an old-fashioned sort of charm. The outline of the Monsigny apartment complex can be seen some distance away, a recognizable shape through the thin wall of trees. A pretty picture, to be certain, and yet one devoid of human life; there's no one in sight, much less the one responsible for the gazebo's creation.

Then there's a flurry of motion near the bottom of the mirror's peripheral vision and the feed pans down to show Mami, gesturing to get the Vine's attention. And yet the girl has quite clearly undergone some radical changes; there are cat ears rising out of her hair and a tail peeking out of her skirt to swish around her ankles, both feline appendages a soft golden color to match her curls. She's been severely reduced in size, not much bigger than a pinecone.

Mami looks ridiculous and yet doesn't seem to be bothered by it, given how she appears as unruffled as always. There's no panic, no outrage, just a faintly amused sort of surprise....on the surface, anyway.]

Ah, hello? Can anyone hear me? [the words come out in a squeaky whisper and she clears her throat, trying again in a louder voice.] I'm in something of a predicament, I'm afraid. In making use of the magic dirt, I somehow triggered one of those troublesome side effects; the result is hopefully obvious enough that I don't have to describe it. [A polite chuckle.]

In my current "state" [and here the ears lie flat against her skull for a moment, a clear display of the annoyance her calm smile is attempting to hide] walking back to more appropriate shelter has become a great deal more difficult. If it's not too much trouble, I would appreciate some assistance.

[ooc: Mami has been wildcarded! The area affected is only the gazebo itself, for a couple of hours; comments will be responded to by [livejournal.com profile] nekofinale for icon purposes.]

[In the kitchen, Mami carries on deliberately postponing her responses, acting as if she can't hear Utena. She glances up at the cupboards lining the wall to the right of the sink. She points at one.] The china is up there. Do be careful with it, please.

[There are drawers beneath the stove. Mami studies them for a moment, then stands on her tiptoes to touch the handle of the bottom-most one.] The kettle should be inside here. Ah, and the tea packets are in that container by the paper towel dispenser. [The item in question is also made of fine china, with a fancy floral pattern curling around the lid.]

Hey, wait a second. [This is going nowhere fast, and Utena kneels down to Mami's level. She'd scoop her up, if that was what it took to be heard, but for now she just wants to talk and see what happens.]

You shouldn't ignore people, you know. [A sigh, she runs a hand through her hair.] I wanted to say I was sorry. You...[look really cute when you're small is probably not the best answer, so she decides against that.] look a lot like a cat right now. I forgot for a second. I didn't mean to upset you.

[Her ears flatten again, smile thinning. She takes a step back.]

Would you have preferred me yelling at you?

[But Mami relents, somewhat, when Utena apologizes - although those gold eyes are still a touch resentful, and the fur along her tail hasn't quite settled. Finally, she glances away.]

...apology accepted, but please don't forget again. Despite appearances, I'm not a pet, and I don't appreciate being treated like one. It's humiliating. [A pause to let the chiding sink in, then she meets Utena's gaze again. A bit more gently:] Okay?

[Surprisingly, Utena nods her head.] Yeah, I would've. If you're mad, you should let people know. [There is little point in feeling one way and pretending to act another, to Utena. The emotion is still there, it just festers.

She does have the sense to look abashed, though, and rubs the back of her head in a nervous gesture.]
...Ah, sorry...I'll remember.

["A shame I'm not that kind of person, then," is what she wants to say, is the actual truth of it, but Mami merely thinks the words rather than allow them out. She has a long way to go yet.] I think you would just laugh rather than feel ashamed of yourself, though....getting a scolding from someone with such a squeaky voice. [Utena's discomfort seems to satisfy her, and Mami attempts a small smile.] If you mean that, then it's fine.

[Utena smiles, bites her lip to keep it from widening into a grin.] Maybe. You don't sound very scary right now. [And she nods again.] Mmhmm, I really mean it. [She hesitates, then holds out her hand.] Do you want to climb on my shoulder again? You can help me pick a tea.

action; keywords yeah!!!

[She looks on the verge of firing off some retort to that, but holds back. Mami hesitates before accepting the offer, yet only briefly this time, moving to climb into that open hand.] Yes, please, it's difficult to get anything done from down here.

[Utena brightens up, and nods, helping Mami to climb up on her shoulder. It seems she's been forgiven for now, and she can't help but be grateful.]

All right. [And she carefully stands up.] Just hold on to me.

[AND THEN THEY HAD TEA AND IT WAS REALLY CUTE, THE END!!!]
