1.1; video

[She's let the vine approach her, not such a common occurrence these days, but it is what it is. She's sitting on a bed with her back to the room as the vine approaches, staring up at something on the wall.

Anyone who has seen her before might notice that she looks a healthier than she has in a long time, a little color in her skin, alertness in her eyes rather than pain and fatigue.]

I guess it isn't very surprising that I would have to uproot my first attempt at gardening to stop it from fucking everything up.

[It really isn't surprising, she could almost laugh at how disgustingly predictable.

She's silent for a moment longer, still staring up at that dreamcatcher.]

...this thing really works.

[she studies the unfamiliar shape with curiosity. This woman must be referring to those weird flowers, but...]

Sorry, but what is that, exactly?

Huh. I've never seen anything like it before. How does it help?

[she's wondering if you put it on your face or something...sometimes her mind is too scientifically-inclined.]

Ahh. But you said it works. Is it because things are...different here?

[the type of magic she knows is practically a science, so the wishy-washy nature of things in the Garden drives her a little nutty, too.]

At least I'm not the only one who feels that way.

{she puts her chin in her hand.]

But--that's good. No one does well without sleep. [she has her own nightmares, but doesn't everyone?]

Nine months? Last I heard, six was the longest...ah, sorry.

I'd say take advantage while it lasts, then.

Disappearing...I talked to someone who said they lost a friend, but do people really vanish with no warning? Just like that?

[she frowns a little. Bit of a depressing attitude this one has.]

You think it'll stop working?

Well, at least there's some chance of going home. Unless they actually completely disappear, which is--...

[a morbid thought. Her mouth twists a bit.]

Here's to it lasting as long as possible.

No need to be pessimistic...I've had enough people disappear on me.

That's a little extreme, don't you think? I'm sure you've got some good things to say.

That's sounds like sort of a miserable way to be.

[identity profile] fjallkonan.livejournal.com 2011-09-01 08:57 pm (UTC)(link)
So was it like an apology?

[identity profile] fjallkonan.livejournal.com 2011-09-01 09:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, you helped out? [She... Is not sure why one would do this.]

[identity profile] fjallkonan.livejournal.com 2011-09-01 09:06 pm (UTC)(link)
So you're just living here now?

[identity profile] fjallkonan.livejournal.com 2011-09-01 09:09 pm (UTC)(link)
You've been here nine months? [If she has a lot of questions it's because no one told her anything when she arrived, so she's been wandering utterly lost for a bit.]

I've only been here a month. Well, less.

[identity profile] fjallkonan.livejournal.com 2011-09-01 09:19 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm Iceland. ...Do you think they go home, or somewhere else?

[identity profile] fjallkonan.livejournal.com 2011-09-02 10:55 am (UTC)(link)
Weird. Why send them home and bring them back?

[identity profile] urbanwonderland.livejournal.com 2011-08-30 06:46 pm (UTC)(link)
[Reeve smiles her usual smile, giving a glance of interest to the dreamcatcher.]

You're looking well-- I do find those things fascinating. However they work!

Yes, I think we've all had enough of gardening for now. Considering a new hobby?

[identity profile] urbanwonderland.livejournal.com 2011-08-30 07:27 pm (UTC)(link)
[Reeve raises an eyebrow, but doesn't offer criticism. She knows very well by now that it's just how Jackie is-- or how she prefers to be seen to be. It amounts to the same thing. She gives a wry sort of smile, dry humor is among her favorite sorts of humor.]

I don't think that sounds nearly as productive or fun, but to each their own, I suppose. Of course, you could always come for tea-- or coffee.

[identity profile] urbanwonderland.livejournal.com 2011-09-03 05:16 am (UTC)(link)
[Reeve smiles. She likes Jackie's blunt way of talking-- at home, her every interaction is so finessed. It also doesn't hurt that she's hard to offend.]

Then by all means. Come over any time you like! I'm on my own today, probably well into the evening.
Well, apart from my little mechanical friends.

[identity profile] urbanwonderland.livejournal.com 2011-09-03 10:02 pm (UTC)(link)
[There isn't much to tidy up, but Reeve gives it a shot anyhow. She also puts the kettle on-- as well as the coffee pot. When Jackie does come to the door, it's already open. Reeve likes to leave it propped so that the smaller of her robots can come and go as they please. She hasn't gotten around to constructing a robot flap just yet.]

Come is, it's open! Which you can probably tell. I'll be right in.
