✎ ii&v. text ❧ video
( The post starts with a not-all-that-quiet laugh, like someone is trying to hold themselves back and really failing quite thoroughly. A moment later, the mirror reveals Jules and Gabrielle. The prior is leaning a bit gracelessly against the bar, chin propped up on her hand as she grins. She doesn’t seem to be paying attention to the mirror right away, pointing at something, and then taking note and waving.
A moment later a scroll unfurls, revealing a list - a list that would appear to be a work in progress.
It reads as follows (in rather swirly handwriting, as well):
Gabrielle - french pearl
Jules - french kiss
Fang - tequila shooter
Reno - dragons breath
Emilia - red wine
Fela - sex on the beach
Caprica - adonis
Dominique - mojito
Mami - lemondrop
Zenobia - between the sheets
Aya - brassy blonde
Reeve - metropole
Kanaya - green alien
Jules laughs again, glancing towards Gabrielle. ) Are you sure Sex on the Beach is right for Fela? It's a bit... well, a little forward. Maybe something more like a Bellini would be good. They’re very classy and tropical. Summery, you know?
( Gabrielle, on the other hand, still keeps her elegant poise. Even with a martini on the bartop next to her. She raises her hand a bit, palm facing up. )
She was topless on a beach, Jules. If that doesn’t say Sex on the Beach, then I don’t know what does.
I-- ( Ah. After holding her hand up for a moment in an apparent show of protest, Jules lets it drop back to the back with a little sigh, conceding defeat. ) I suppose you’re right, yes, that is rather conclusive.
Now, who else do we have. . . Adonis for Caprica, that seems perfect, the name alone is just... all mysterious and beautiful and interesting. And Em-- ( She shoots a grin at someone off camera, one can only assume Emilia herself ) Em gets red wine because simple, classy and French suits very well, and can give you a terrible hangover if you don't respect it. Nice red wine, though, not the sort that you get in a cardboard box, or something.
( A moment or two, and she's mulling it over thoughtfully, tapping at the list. ) What about a Flaming Redhead for Reno? I can't say I've ever had a Dragon's Breath.
( A quick amused glance to Emilia, Gabrielle shakes her head at Jules’ statement. She taps the paper with a slender finger. ) Too much whipped cream, not enough hot sauce. Dragon's Breath is spicy, strong, and assertive.
It's also very persistent in getting you drunk.
( She pauses, amused with herself. ) Just like a certain redhead that we know. ( Pressing her lips into a smile, she lifts her glass to her lips. ) Who else is there?
( Gabrielle is good at this game. Thinking that over, Jules gravely sips her drink, something extremely bright with an umbrella sticking out of it. An outcome, no doubt, of the discussion of various cocktails that has made her veer away from her usual staples of wine and cosmopolitans. A moments skips past, and she nods her consent, before returning to the list. ) Well, let’s see-- Dragon’s Breath for Reno, I suppose, and then there was Green Alien for Kanaya and Metropole for Reeve, although I can’t say I’ve had the pleasure of meeting them yet. Consider me intrigued, though! Mojito for Dominique, because she’s so relaxed and interesting, which I think fits. Very calm, but rather refreshing, which seems appropriate.
( Hmmm. More staring at the list, as she takes the cocktail stick out of her now-empty glass and drags the cherry off it with her teeth. ) Who's Fang? The name doesn't ring a bell.
I'm not all that acquainted with her, I've only spoken to her once. ( She keeps her eyes on Jules, her lips curling into a smirk ) But from that experience alone, I could tell that she wasn't all that complicated... hence why the tequila shooter works!
Abrasive, curt, something that takes time to get used to if you're not used to having alcohol. She wouldn't make a very good cocktail from what I can see.
And Aya- ( Gabrielle waves her air in the hand a bit. ) There's no other choice for her but a Brassy Blonde. ( She takes a moment to pause and finish her drink. )
It's a simple cocktail, but even the name says what kind of drink it really is. You can’t expect to put vodka in something and not have it come back to you later regretting you ever messed with it in the first place. Even if it sounds innocent with pineapple juice as an ingredient.
(So that was Fang, hm? Jules considers that for a moment, before picking up her empty wine glass from a few rounds ago and tapping on it to get Em’s attention, before returning her focus to Gabrielle. )
Oh, she sounds... ( Alarming? ) Interesting! And so does Aya, actually. I’ll clearly have to start broadening my social circle.
( Because, even for Jules, travelling to another world has been jarring, and she has spent a great deal of time drinking in the library, writing, and drinking at Seventh Heaven. Running into people with wings was still a bit of an experience, so to speak, even if she wasn’t throwing her alarm out there. Speaking of people with wings-- )
Then we have Zenobia, with Between The Sheets, Mami with a Lemondrop. . . you know, I don't think I've met her, either, but anyone associated with vodka-based drinks in a martini glass has to be a good egg. ( And then she’s looking at the list. ) We're still a far cry from figuring out a drink for everyone, though.
No, you're right... (Gabrielle rests her chin in her hand, glancing down at the list for a moment. ) There's a lot of people that aren’t on here-
( She pauses for a moment, looking at Jules. The expression on her face reads like she’s just come up with a brilliant idea. )
What about the Queen? I mean... she’s certainly someone to talk about.
( Ah, and here is her wine, being handed to her off-screen. When she leans back into view, she is very happily swirling the glass. Who says mixing drinks is a bad idea? Amateurs!
She is simultaneously tipping some wine back and arching an eyebrow at that question. ) The Queen? We might end up blacklisting a perfectly nice drink so that no one gives it a chance ever again. ( No, no that just won’t do. )
What's the worst drink you've ever had?
( There is a passing mischievous glance when Jules accepts the red wine; the corner of her lips curl just a bit, but she doesn’t say anything.
For now, at least. )
Back in LA, I went to this bar. It was something with one of my co-workers- ( She dismisses the details with a wave of her hand. ) There was this godawful drink there. It was called Hot Sauce- which, by the name alone you can already tell it’s going to be pretty disgusting-but this had Tabasco, Guinness, Absolut, and Worcestershire sauce. The rim of the glass has celery salt, and it’s served with a lemon and pepper. ( Gabrielle frowns a bit just thinking of it. ) I’m not very sure what made me try it... but the minute I did, I knew it was one of the biggest regrets of my life.
( And from her... that’s saying a lot. )
( Cue Jules’ eyebrows raising a bit. ) So it’s. . . forceful and deeply unpleasant, but they still think it’s fit to serve?
( The look of mild disgust turns to one of amusement. ) That sounds rather spot on, actually.
( ooc: Jules & Gabrielle are both up for action threads if your character is at Seventh Heaven, too, although to keep it simpler and to avoid remembering tagging order and stuff, feel free to specify which one of them you'd like to actionspam with, or if you don't mind which. )

action.
More than a couple. I trust you'll take her home safely? [ She's making the cocktail anyway, just so that maybe if she gets that last pampering she will stop drinking by willpower.
Not that she totally believes that, anyway. ]
Where you a landlord back home as well, Gabrielle? Or is it just something here?
action.
( Not that she is making any moves to slide herself out of her chair and prove it. ) Don't fib, Gabrielle. I bet you put my partying to shame.
( A very relaxed, happy grin. She's enjoying this, time with the girls, even if said girls seem to look at her like she's a bit of an idiot sometimes and completely outclass her. She just raises her shoulders and then shakes them out, content. There were worse things than for your friends to think you're a bit odd, or irresponsible, or maybe just think you need help getting home in your heels. ) Either way, it's lovely to have somewhere to go, right?
action.
[She then shakes her head and gently laughs.] It was nice to host a party again, at least. It's been awhile since I've done something like that too. [It's hard to host any sort of get together when there's monsters constantly attacking the city and harming innocent civilians.]
action.
She garnishes the chilled martini glass with a lemon before putting in the champagne and the mix, and pops a little umbrella on it because Jules is a big child. ]
Well, it sounded like a successful party. [ A pause, and she's picking her tea mug, sipping it thoughtfully. ] I'm sorry I didn't go, but, as I said, I'm a bit of a boring person at parties. I'd much rather just stay in.
action.
I'm sure you're not. No one is boring at parties., it's just whether or not they're talking to the right people. ( Pausing; how to explain? )
If you don't click with someone, it's going to be awkward no matter where you are, but if you get on a roll with someone, then it's fine. ( A tiny shrug, and she's twirling the little pink umbrella between her fingers, just watching it spin. ) We have lots of fun at the library, I don't see why a party would be any different. ( Punctuated with a nod. She's quite certain about this. ) Besides, things get easier the more often you do them. If you come to one, getting to know people and coming to the next will be more fun as you get your stride.
( Sipping her drink, now! ) Anyway, I'll host the next one, and then it can be your turn to play the part of guest, Gabrielle. How do you feel about fancy dress parties? Costumes, and everything.
action.
There are people who know how to do parties, those who don't, and those who are in the middle and enjoy social interaction with a little downtime the next night. It's can become exhausting if there's too much socializing, or lonely without enough. People can become exhausting, but so a can lack of people. [She presses her lips into a smile, her finger gently resting on the stem of her cocktail glass.] Sometimes a perfect balance is all you need.
[At Jules' question, she thinks it over for a moment. The rim of the cocktail glass plays upon her lips, before she takes a sip and firmly answers:] I'd love to attend your future fancy dress party. Someone like you would definitely have a lively party like that!
action.
[ Oh, dear, French bluntness. ]
You just described me, Gabrielle. Books and cooking. [ She laughs quietly, leaning against the counter with her elbows on it, sipping tea calmly.
Which she almost spits when she hears the words "fancy dress parties". ]
Oh, no, I avoided the ball for a reason. I am not the fancy dress party type at all. [ Augh, fancy dresses. Those are beautiful to watch on television, in movies, but not on Em's body... Dear God, why. ]
Re: action.
( She sounds a bit sad, if anything, but she quickly locks that sentiment up and ignores it, in favour of focusing on Gabrielle. ) Maybe we just need to work on that balance, hm? As perfect as I already am, I mean.
( A little grin at Gabrielle, and a soft laugh at Em's apparent horror )
What about a costume party, then, or a theme? It could be fun. Just-- think of it as a chance to be silly. An excuse to do whatever you feel like without worrying about any consequences. To be whimsical and just have fun with something. ( Reaching over the counter, she touches Em's wrist, just gently. ) Please? You could even utilise some of your wonderful cooking skills and then just wander through to make sure everything is going smoothly and see if you want to stay.
( Can Em deny the big shiny puppyeyes? Because they are very big and very shiny puppyeyes. )
action.
I don't think I'd let my inhibitions go that easily— [She tosses a joking glance at Jules.] —but I think it would be a lot of fun. [She then turns her attention to Emilia.] Giving it a try won't hurt, but if you feel uncomfortable, you're always welcome to leave a little earlier than the party is supposed to end. Nobody likes to be trapped in a place where they feel they don't belong.
action.
She frowns slightly, then her eyes move to her hand touching her wrist. In fact, she actually stares at it for half a second, before looking at Jules. She's been around her for a while to understand that she is a rather tactile person, so she suppresses her urge to move away her hand, instead focusing her attention back on her tea. ]
Hmm. I'll think about. [ And no, those puppy eyes had nothing to do with her decision. ]
Trapped in a place they feel they don't belong? [ An unamused snort, and she flickers her eyes to Gabrielle. ] That sounds familiar.
action. oh, html, why must you mock me
( Don't deny their power. )
Thinking about it is a start! ( Hand withdrawn, and playing with the umbrella again. ) You wouldn't be adverse to catering though, regardless of whether you attend? ( She can work on coercing Em to attend gradually. ) I can try and think of something that would make it worth your while, like-- ( ffff she's been drinking, her ideas are lacking ) -- oh, I don't know. I'll think of something later.
( She laughs a bit at that, just softly, before sipping away more of her drink. ) Really? I'm quite certain none of us are familiar with that, at all. ( Much more humour - she really is treating it like a joke, something they can laugh over rather than the serious matter she knows it to be. Happiness in denial, and all that. )
action.
Mn. [Even though she seems to agree with the both of them, she makes no further comment on the statement. As someone who's been in outcast, even in her own career, she certainly knows what it's like to not belong. To be in a room full of people and still feel lonely. Instead of letting her thoughts go any further than that, she takes a sip of her drink.]
