I found this in a book in the library...and a lot of other things like it. Is it some kind of puzzle? What does it mean?

I think blithe is like joyous or carefree or something. Gay can either mean happy or homosexual. Probably happy here. I think.

Homose...oh. I remember that one. It means two girls in love with each other.

But it can also mean happy? I guess that makes sense. Love is happy.

[Zenobia will ignore the fact that it can also apply to two guys. Because that's much less interesting to her.]

Yes. Though I think it might just be a lovely coincidence. But I've never really studied language, so I don't know.

I often wonder how many of the people here are gay. It'd be nice if a lot of them were.

Well, it seems kind of weird for the Queen to bring them here if they don't like girls, I guess. But I don't know about love. That doesn't seem like something you can force.

Yeah, I've been wondering the same thing. Why bring people here who don't even want to hook up with another girl?

Well, as far as love goes, you can't force it... but if you put a lot of different people together, some of them are bound to fall in love without you making them do so. I haven't even been here two weeks, and I'm already... well... crushing on a person or two.

For some people. Some people will have to wait a long time to find just the right person. [And Zenobia thinks that those people are picky.] But for other people, in a place like this, filled with extraordinary girls, each of which are amazing and cute, it can be very easy to fall in love.

Well, as far as I can tell, a "crush" happens when you're so happy that you've found someone you really like that you feel warm and wonderful inside. I guess you can tell that it's real love after you keep sharing time with that person and that happiness keeps coming back, and you find that you want to always be with them.

[Zenobia thinks.] Well, I suppose it could be possible that you feel that way about your friends as well, depending on your tastes. That could be difficult but it would be a lot of fun, too!

[she actually feels her face getting warm under her hood, and shakes her head hastily.]

Tastes? I don't feel like that. I mean, my friends...

Yep. Mmm, a warm embrace... soft lips... those feelings... They're one of the best joys of being alive.

Yeah, it was probably a long-shot that you'd be in love with all of them, but, you know, I couldn't just rule that out.

[Zenobia grins, wide.] Well, it would depend on "why" and "how did it feel," but, probably.

[all those words are making her feel a bit odd, and she pats her cheeks self-consciously, trying not to think about it.]

It was...nice...I guess. She got really worried and asked if she did something wrong, but I wasn't upset or anything. I just didn't know what it was at the time.

Oh, so she started it? I bet she looked really cute when she got all worried.

It is, though. I really miss her.

Yes. Someone is cute if they are pleasant to behold and if looking at them makes you happy. ...At least, that's how I think of it.

Yeah, I miss her a lot. But I try to stay happy because I know that's what she'd want. I think.
