[careful writing appears on the Vine, slowly, a pause after each line. The writer is copying it down from a book, after all.]
[with that, the handwriting grows more confident and natural again, continuing further down the page.]
I found this in a book in the library...and a lot of other things like it. Is it some kind of puzzle? What does it mean?
If recollecting were forgetting,
Then I remember not.
And if forgetting, recollecting,
How near I had forgot.
And if to miss, were merry,
And to mourn, were gay,
How very blithe the fingers
That gathered this, Today!

[what is her education.]
But it can also mean happy? I guess that makes sense. Love is happy.
no subject
Yes. Though I think it might just be a lovely coincidence. But I've never really studied language, so I don't know.
I often wonder how many of the people here are gay. It'd be nice if a lot of them were.

Well, it seems kind of weird for the Queen to bring them here if they don't like girls, I guess. But I don't know about love. That doesn't seem like something you can force.
no subject
Well, as far as love goes, you can't force it... but if you put a lot of different people together, some of them are bound to fall in love without you making them do so. I haven't even been here two weeks, and I'm already... well... crushing on a person or two.

[she's trying to compare it to her own experience, which is...minimal.]
How do you know when it's a "crush"? And how do you know when it turns into real love?
no subject
For some people. Some people will have to wait a long time to find just the right person. [And Zenobia thinks that those people are picky.] But for other people, in a place like this, filled with extraordinary girls, each of which are amazing and cute, it can be very easy to fall in love.
Well, as far as I can tell, a "crush" happens when you're so happy that you've found someone you really like that you feel warm and wonderful inside. I guess you can tell that it's real love after you keep sharing time with that person and that happiness keeps coming back, and you find that you want to always be with them.

E-extraordinary? Amazing and cute?
[great, now she thinks you're some kind of amazingly nice person who loves everyone.]
But...I feel warm and happy with my friends, too.
no subject
[Haha, I don't think Zenobia and Xion have the same idea when it comes to "loving everyone."]
Yes. But it's a different kind of warmth and happiness with crushes and love. You want to hold them. You want to kiss them. You want to be one with them.
[Zenobia thinks.] Well, I suppose it could be possible that you feel that way about your friends as well, depending on your tastes. That could be difficult but it would be a lot of fun, too!
no subject
[she actually feels her face getting warm under her hood, and shakes her head hastily.]
Tastes? I don't feel like that. I mean, my friends...
[she hesitates again.]
I did kiss someone once...does that mean I had a "crush" on her?
no subject
Yeah, it was probably a long-shot that you'd be in love with all of them, but, you know, I couldn't just rule that out.
[Zenobia grins, wide.] Well, it would depend on "why" and "how did it feel," but, probably.
no subject
It was...nice...I guess. She got really worried and asked if she did something wrong, but I wasn't upset or anything. I just didn't know what it was at the time.
no subject
It sounds like a pleasant memory.

[another pause.]
Usually people call me cute, but I'm still not really sure what it means. Nice to look at, right?
It is, though. I really miss her.
no subject
I'm sorry to hear that. Maybe she'll show up in the garden some day?
no subject
I think it might be better if she stays at home. There are people who need her.
