_{[Nausicaä stands atop one of the taller pieces of ruins, one leg up as she peers away from the mirror. A breeze whips at her flying jacket, the dark blue cloth rippling around her legs. She finally turns back to the mirror, looking thoughtful.]}

These ruins... they remind me of some of the ones back home; the cities and towns that were swallowed by the Sea of Corruption. Except here there's no miasma. No spores. I wonder what happened...?

_{[She pauses and shrugs.]}

At least we're not going to starve to death anytime soon. But still....

_{[Feel free to come upon her. Or just talk.]}

_{[Nausicaä guides her to the next hand-hold, then climbs a bit further up, turning her head to watch her progress.]}

There you go...! You just need to learn how to read what's in front of you.

[Ibis grasps onto the ledge and looks down at her foot, pulling one up at a time.]

_{[Nausicaä stays just above her as she climbs, seemingly at ease with both the height and clinging to a rockface.]}

Almost there.

[She doesn't mind height too much. Bailing out of a crashing mecha will do that to you. But she's working her way up though stopping to take a breather every now and then.]

_{[True! Pilots can't afford to be afraid of heights. She perches at the top and waits, willing to offer a hand to Ibis if she needs it.]}

[With a bit more help, she drags herself up to the top.]

Whew, that was difficult.

If you practice, it'll get easier.

_{[She leans back to admire the view, a little smile on her lips. Even this far from home, she feels at peace.]}

That would be the idea, I guess. I definitely wouldn't want to try it out alone though.

I'm not sure how long we'll be here, but... if you keep at it, I'm sure you'll be able to do it all on your own.

Thank you. No harm in trying. Maybe a few bumps and scrapes will help too.

...I don't know. I wish I had my glider.

It's not powered flight but if you know what you're doing and have the right things, it's pretty easy to build something that will glide. I bet Tsugumi could do it easily.

Probably. I don't have all the tools I'd need, though.

What kind of things would you need? A hammer?

Wood-shaping tools, mostly. I have a knife, but I'd need an axe, needle, thread... Cloth or skins. It'd take a lot of work.

Wow. It doesn't seem as easy as I thought it would be.

Well, you'd have to build the frame, make sure it's sturdy enough to hold you and hold up to the winds, then get it covered with cloth, add in a harness or some way to steer....

Makes me wish I just had wings. That would make things a lot simpler.

It would, wouldn't it? Unfortunately we don't, so we have to fly some other way.

I heard the first airplane was built in a garage. That makes it seem almost possible somehow.

...really? I'd never heard that.

That was a long time ago so it could just be an urban legend.
