_{[Nausicaä stands atop one of the taller pieces of ruins, one leg up as she peers away from the mirror. A breeze whips at her flying jacket, the dark blue cloth rippling around her legs. She finally turns back to the mirror, looking thoughtful.]}

These ruins... they remind me of some of the ones back home; the cities and towns that were swallowed by the Sea of Corruption. Except here there's no miasma. No spores. I wonder what happened...?

_{[She pauses and shrugs.]}

At least we're not going to starve to death anytime soon. But still....

It's not powered flight but if you know what you're doing and have the right things, it's pretty easy to build something that will glide. I bet Tsugumi could do it easily.

Probably. I don't have all the tools I'd need, though.

What kind of things would you need? A hammer?

Wood-shaping tools, mostly. I have a knife, but I'd need an axe, needle, thread... Cloth or skins. It'd take a lot of work.

Wow. It doesn't seem as easy as I thought it would be.

Well, you'd have to build the frame, make sure it's sturdy enough to hold you and hold up to the winds, then get it covered with cloth, add in a harness or some way to steer....

Makes me wish I just had wings. That would make things a lot simpler.

It would, wouldn't it? Unfortunately we don't, so we have to fly some other way.

I heard the first airplane was built in a garage. That makes it seem almost possible somehow.

...really? I'd never heard that.

That was a long time ago so it could just be an urban legend.
