[As the vine comes to life, it becomes clear that this woman has settled herself in the grass alongside one of the vine's buds, is stroking it with light fingers, tickling it into curlicues indulgently.]

What a lovely dream this is, so clever and vibrant.

[The cat that she had instructed as to the vine is settled in her lap, and she smiles down at the creature, sharing the conversation. She gives the fluffy white cat a lingering scritch, it doesn't seem overly amused that she continues to insist this is a dream.]

You agree, don't you. [She peers at the mirror once more, tilting her head as if trying to see something beyond the glass.] Do you hear me, dreamer? Will you come to speak with me? My name is Fela, I should love to meet you.

A little. There are many people here, I've been speaking to them, learning things about their worlds.

[She's only met Fela once, but she knows her as a strong presence, the eldest of their siblings and the first to follow their father's calling. A guiding figure, but not without her own vulnerabilities.]

But I miss my family.

I'm sure they miss you too.

[She gives Mahalia's hand a little squeeze.]

But I am here now, and you must tell me all about you.

[She nods, and starts quietly telling Fela about herself. How old she is, where she lives, her mother and Jast. Acacio and his children, that Fela is the eldest and Mahalia the youngest.]

I've only met you once, but we all know each other.

[In the middle of Mahalia's story, the cat in her lap decides it has had quiet enough of this, getting up and running off before she can catch it. Fela looks after the cat, but decides she has a little sister to cuddle instead, with such long lovely hair to stroke.]

Such a large family, how blessed we are.

Yes.

[She smiles a little. She loves their family, loves being a part of it, the webbing of their connections.]

I can still feel them. I think I would find it harder if I couldn't.

[Hard to imagine, not having that sense. Hard to imagine how much worse she would feel in this place.]

Paderau is here, too, she's one of the wardens. But I didn't want to ask too much of her.

Wardens are just one family to another, aren't they?

[Mmm Mahalia squishing.]

I am sure she would offer you whatever she could.

Yes. She would.

[But that didn't mean Mahalia should just take those offers carelessly. And she had her big sister now, although Mahalia wouldn't want to lean on her too much either, dreamchasers needing just as much care.]

We are all in a strange place and in need of some help.

[Although, truthfully, she did not apply this to herself. She was usually in a strange and unknown place, yet still responsible for her own safety.]

I've been singing, to try and bring people some comfort. And myself, I suppose.

[But it really just reminded her of Jast and made it worse.]

That's very sweet of you, I would love to hear you sing.

[She puffs up a little at that.]

I'd sing for you whenever you'd like.

[Precious little birdy. Fela gives a pleased little laugh, smooshing Mahalia in against her.]
