[The darkness doesn't bother her, not with her powers coming back online. The sun being blotted out unnaturally might be a little unnerving, but the fireworks make up for it, the sensation of new beginnings and hope make up for it. The steady increase of her order's voices inside her heart definitely make up for it, and they all have the same request.
She's missed their new years ritual at midnight, the augur's singing, the blaze of expectant glory that they put up, the drums and the dancing. It's been her dance for centuries, but just because she's here doesn't mean she gets to skimp on ritual. She takes herself out to the Ruins, the white temple stone seems apt enough, and she begins the firebird's dance. Death and rebirth, prayer and exultation. Those who watch her long enough will feel the urge to dance alongside her. Her movements are strangely graceful for the size of her body, for the power in her feet, each stomp of her feet sets the threads of magic in the air ringing joyfully.
It ends in flame, her head tilted back as the heat flares, engulfing her like a firework all her own, glimmers and then dies. She stands panting, sweaty and smiling.]

New Years. Who wants a kiss?

When it's done, the bird of legend is right there, letting the flames wrap and engulf them both and once it's done, she's back to the petite blonde girl nude skin she's so very used to wear. ]

I want one, can I have one? [ She tiptoes a little, grinning. ]
no subject
Absolutely, baby.

Here's to another year, Birdie.
no subject
Yes, another one, yes.
no subject
You're gettin' big.

I hope this place doesn't turn nasty too often, but I think that's just me wishing.

But she then stops and, as if sensing something off, she tilts her head, a little worried, shifting expressions so very fast. ]
Do you think she is dangerous, the Queen is, is she?

no subject
I'll protect you.
no subject
You already did, sweetheart.
no subject
It is cold, outside, yes. [ She says after a while, closing her eyes. She's tired, little baby bird needs her sleep once in a while and Paderau is such a wonderful pillow! Warm too. ]
no subject
S'what happens when little birds lose their little bird clothes. Come on, lets get you snuggled down into your little nest.
no subject
Will you stay, for a while, tonight? [ She smiles, the gold of her eyes full of hope and excitement. ]
no subject
Yeah. We'll get you warmed up.
[action]
[so many strange and wonderful things happen here.]
New Years? What's a kiss?
[action]
Hey, girl. You've never done New Years before?
[action]
[she shakes her head.]
What is it, exactly? Well, the name...
[action]
[action]
[she likes that. The Gardens are her own New Beginning, after all.]
How did you learn to dance like that?
[action]
Watching. Practicing.
[action]
[she's thoroughly impressed.]
[action]
[action]
[her whole life has only been little more than a year; she can't even wrap her head around it.]
[action]
[action]
[action]
No, not most people, but most of the people in my order do.
[action]
So you're special.
Do you ever get lonely?
[action]
No, never, baby. You see, the thing about being a warden is... you're connected, to all living things. All the people, all the plants and animals, everything. Got my brothers and sisters in the order too, we're the luckiest creatures alive.
[action]
That sounds...amazing.
[a warden. She's never heard of such a thing, but she believes it.]
All living things. Does that mean--...[she hesitates.] Me, too?
[action] processional irreverence... is what. o-occasional.
Yeah, you too.
[action] XD! makes more sense now.
[that's new. And a little...wonderful.]
...thank you.
[action] -shakes head despairingly.-
No problem. Happy new year, Xion.
[action] *comforting shoulder pat*
...Happy New Year, Paderau.
action;
[Utena blinks, wide-eyed.
...And then blushes.] A kiss?
action;
It's tradition.
action;
action;
action;
action;
Old as time, is what it is.
action;
[and then flustered again. A blush slowly crawls up her neck.] Um, [an awkward cough; she rubs the back of her head.] thanks.
