[to find herself in an unfamiliar place and unable to sense Natori's presence was... just a bit worrying. but there was no immediate panic, no. Hiiragi had spent most of the day silently going about, searching for her master and an exit.

so neither could be found. alright then.

it isn't until a few hours of fruitless searching later that Hiiragi accidentally brushes against the vines, a scroll unfurling and a pen offered to her. there's a long pause of debate as to whether she should simply move on or investigate it further; the youkai takes her own brush and ink out of her sleeve, and after a moment of hesitation, experimentally swipes a couple lines across the surface. basically all you get to see is this:]

[a woman wearing a horned one-eyed mask can be found around the gardens, heading nowhere in particular yet with a sense of urgency. if she spots your character but they're human, she'll walk right past them without a second glance. but if they're anything other, she'll be turning her head in their direction and slightly slowing her pace.]

[Despite looking completely human, Akiha is half-demon. She happens to be on her way back to her mansion in the Orchard, carrying a slightly singed dead pheasant.]

[at this point, Hiiragi's concerned enough about the absence of her Master that she's resorting to seeking assistance from others. this person doesn't smell like a human, so.]

[Akiha pauses at the voice and looks over. She then frowns and narrows her eyes.]

I am not going to talk to a mask unless you have something important to say.

[there's no sign that she's put off at all, though she does slightly tilt her head, mask grinning as always.]

[Alice is simply everywhere today. Or just in transit of going somewhere. She may also be talking with a doll of hers. How odd.]

[well. she doesn't smell like any regular everyday human. Hiiragi stops to observe, as if expecting the doll to speak back to Alice at any moment.]

[Which it most certainly does. Of course, it's just Alice controlling it, but nobody needs to know that right now.]

-Certainly no one would mistake Dizzy for human. But the staring, especially given that creepy mask, leaves her looking unsettled and trying to seem smaller than she already was. Her wings shrunk down and her tail wrapped timidly about her leg.-

[welp nope she's stopping completely and fully turning to Dizzy. enjoy that big eye on the mask staring right down at you.]

-Wow that is... terrifying. And Dizzy's fear seems to start manifesting, one of the two wings, the deep green one, growing a bit larger, folding around her.-

[Kris may be human but that doesn't mean she wasn't loaded with magic. Whether or not that was easily figured out/detected...]

[she detects the magic- it would explain why this human's able to see her, at least. (she's yet to figure out that everyone can see her in this place, unlike in her world).]

[Taokaka could be found lazing about in one of the garden's many tall trees and purring quietly.

Though her form was humanoid, Tao was something of a unique case, being that she was an artificial life from crafted from the genetics of a human being and a certain bi-pedal cat creature.]

[there are two things Hiiragi is familiar with: humans and youkai. so when she detects something that's neither, naturally her attention would be drawn over.

some sort of animal? she stands beneath the tree, looking up at Taokaka, mask grinning and staring as always.]

[As Tao unleashes a mighty yawn, she rolls over in just such way that she catches the sight of the strange masked girl from just out of the corner of her eyes.

For a moment she stares at Hiiragi, studying her for any sign of danger. However, this being Tao, she quickly dismisses that notion in favor of greeting her instead.]

[Nue can be found near the Hakurei shrine. Despite her temporary change in attire to a certain red and white uniform, she looks as non-human as ever, her wing squirming around in their typical disorienting way.]

[Hiiragi hasn't escaped detection from her, either. It's an attention-drawing mask, so Nue might as well be trying to bore a hole right through it with her stare.]

[the eye stares back.

seeing a youkai in the clothes of a shrine maiden is... not what Hiiragi had been expecting, but she assumes this must be somebody's servant. another exorcist? they'd probably know more about the circumstances, and if it truly is impossible for Natori to be present (seeds of doubt, still firmly planted in her mind).

and so Hiiragi approaches, the eye on the mask still focused on Nue. or not. it's hard to tell where she's looking.]

[Whatever this person is focused on, Nue sets a hand on her hip and looks her over, not bothering to hide the action. (How does she even see with that mask on? she wonders.) She's probably supposed to say something like, "Welcome to the Hakurei shrine," so long as she's going along with Reimu's punishment, but she doesn't actually care enough to bother.]

What's with the mask?

[That's what she asks when they're close enough.]

[Raven's just minding her own business, walking and... some more walking. Her gray skin should be enough of a clue that she isn't exactly human. In fact, she's half-demon.

[so few ordinary humans and even less youkai. this place reeks of unfamiliar smells. just about everyone else she'd encountered told her there's no escape from this realm, but Hiiragi still isn't quite certain how to deal with that fact.

without Natori, she has no purpose.

Raven doesn't escape her detection. Hiiragi may or may not be openly staring at Raven as she passes by. it's hard to tell.]

[Raven sort of just stares back, and maybe with an eyebrow raise because what is that mask even.]

[Sette happens to be napping against a tree when she's spotted. She looks mostly human - and she'd swear that she was 100% human - but the tail idly swishing back and forth beneath her, among other anatomic oddities, professes otherwise.]

[where are all the ordinary humans forreals. strange place, wide diversity. not like Hiiragi's complaining, but it's just a bit odd. especially the bit about no males.

at this point she's done seeking information; she figures she got all the essential bits. no way out. no males. Queen of Hearts is in charge. no one knows why they're here.

and so she's simply scoping out the land, learning the layout of the gardens. Hiiragi drops down unannounced from the tree Sette is napping against (though she hadn't been up there a second ago), almost landing right on the girl. but Sette may as well not even be there as far as Hiiragi's concerned- ah, no, she does notice her after a second.

that big eye on her mask's staring down at Sette now.]

[Sette begins stirring after a moment, her instincts rousing her, warning her that something's not Right. Her eyes open, and...she gets an eyeful of eye mask.]

Gah!

[Startled, she sits straight up, trying to shuffle away from the creepy eye.]
