[When the Vine opens up, there's no one to be seen on screen. Instead, it simply displays what has probably by now become a familiar landmark in the Gardens — Jessica's fortress. Just when you might think this is an accidental video of some kind, Nue speaks. Her voice seems to come from somewhere directly below the recording mirror. The truth of the matter is that she's sitting with her back against whatever the Vine happens to be perched on on her end. This is the first anyone will have heard from her in the days since her death at the hands of the woman in the well, Nue having been staying out of sight and sleeping in public places rather than returning to what had been her home.]

Hey. This place is empty, right? I looked around inside, and all I could find were robots. [Though said robots seem to have been doing a good job of keeping the place clean. Not a lot of dust to be found, which just makes staying there all the more appealing to her.] Because... I don't think I'm going to stay at the shrine anymore. So if no one is using in this place, I think I'll just live here from now on.

[She goes quiet for a few seconds, the image on screen unchanging. Then, eventually, she says,] That's all I have to say. I just— I wanted to make sure it was empty, and I thought I should say something in case anyone actually cares where I am.

Voice - Priavate to Yuyuko
[Nue has never really felt comfortable talking to Yuyuko, and even less so after she wound up with one of her memories, but...]

Could you do me a favor?

[She really doesn't want to go back to the shrine right now, and someone needs to get her stuff.]

Text - Private to Kariya & Reimu
[Both of them get the same short message, the Vine unfurling to reveal the words:]

I'm sorry.

[Nue doesn't add anything to that, figuring there's nothing she can say to justify her actions. She also leaves it unsigned, but her identity may very well be easy to figure out based on the content and timing.]

[Reimu just shakes her head at that statement.]

So what? You both screwed up, and you have to live with that. I don't care what you said or did to me. I am used to crap like that.

[She then looks away from Nue.

But you shouldn't run from your problems. I don't care how much it hurts you or Sanae. Running or avoiding this will be much more of a pain in the ass later.

I'm not— I'm not running! It's just too soon right now. Maybe in a couple of weeks or something, but right now I just can't— [She sighs and runs a hand back through her hair, her wings lashing to and fro behind her back.] Can you just wait a little while to punish me?

You can't or you won't?

[She put her hands on her hips. Reimu is dead set on getting all this resolved now.]

Give me a good reason why I should wait. A reason that doesn't involve you feeling bad

I can't!

[Her hands curl hard into fists.]

Don't say that like my feelings aren't important! And what about Sanae's feelings, huh? Have you asked her if she's okay with this? Even if it's your shrine, she should get a say in the matter, too!

[She scrubs at her eyes with the heel of her palm. Wait, when did she start crying?]

You don't understand! You don't understand anything!

That's enough, Reimu.

-The voice was a good distance down the way, but it was obvious who it belonged to. Someone had managed to leave her room long enough to follow the other maiden... probably because she had predicted, accurately, exactly what Reimu was going to attempt.-

[Reimu was about to tell Nue that why should she care if she understood or not when she heard Sanae's voice. She rubbed her neck and turned to face her.]

Guess I should have figured you may follow me Sanae. Well, at least I don't have to drag Nue back now.

[The second she hears Sanae's voice, Nue gasps and freezes, going perfectly still down to her perpetually busy wings. She looks, a bit, like she's been caught doing something bad. She doesn't say anything, either. The thought of running from the situation occurs to her, of course, but she can't force her paralyzed body to move.]

... Let's go back to the shrine.

-And leave Nue alone. This wasn't something Reimu could just 'fix', try as she might and with good intentions abound. She didn't want to be there. Even catching a glimpse of Nue in the corner of her eye, her head turned down, sent waves of pain through her, deep and entrenched. It couldn't happen now. Not when they both were like this.-

[Reimu looked from one girl to the other. She could tell that they were not going to be talking. She shrugged her shoulders and walked towards Sanae]

I don't get why you two just talk about what happened over some Sake or a Danmaku fight. Works all the time with Marisa and I.

[Nue watches Reimu step back, the tension draining out of her entirely. She could almost sigh with relief. And yet... She can't leave this how it is. She can't just have Sanae right in front of her and not say a single word. She isn't ready to talk now, and it's obvious Sanae isn't either, but...]

—Sanae! [Talking right over Reimu, she forces out,] When... When we're both ready, I want to talk to you! But right now, I...

-Sanae lifted her head, just slightly, to Nue's words. They registered. She clearly heard them. But she spoke nothing in return. Nothing came out. No assurance. No condemnation. Nothing... Her mouth opened, and only silence flowed. It hurt too much, still... So she turned her head back down, simply turning to leave ahead of Reimu.-

[Nue would have liked some kind of verbal acknowledgment, but... That was fine. She understood, so even if it wasn't the reply she would have liked, it was fine as long as Sanae had heard. She watched the two of them go, and when they were out of sight...]

[She sighed deeply and let herself sink back to the ground, sitting on the grass in front of her new home again.]
