A busy tired Shrine Maiden [Action]

[It was the end of a long night for Reimu as she slowly flew back towards her shrine. She spent all night making sure no one tried to cause trouble. However, it wasn't the all nighters and little sleep she has had for the last few days that has her tired.

Ever since she encountered Nue, she was doubting herself. Why didn't she just seal the rampaging Nue? She could undo the seal after the event was over. Why did she hesitate?]

Sigh... why was I so worried about upsetting Sanae... She's not even herself during this incident... Damn it, I wouldn't hesitate to blast her with spell cards.

[Frustrated, she rubbed her hands in her hair. If any of the more Youkai-ish Youkai saw this right now she would be in trouble, she thought to herself.]

My my, look what the sukima spit out. [ Reimu looks quite worn down, and though it isn't Yuuka's doing (yet), she looks oddly pleased with herself. ] Are you having a rough time, dear~?

[Great, possible the last person she wanted to see right now. She groans and turns towards Yuuka, instinctivly reaching towards her spell cards.]

Not at all. This is nothing a shrine maiden can't handle.

I wouldn't know any other shrine maidens. [ Fortunately. ] But I can see plain as day how tousled you look. [ Especially her hair. ]

Since I don't laze about the whole day, I don't have time to always make my hair pretty.

You're such a diligent worker. [ Oh how much contempt Yuuka has for that job, though; Reimu can probably pick up on the insincerity. ] I wonder whom you'll bother next~.

[Reimu easily picks up on that, but pays it no heed. She is used to Youkai's hating her.]

Well, unless you tell me why you are out here, it will be you. Many people are turning violent and evil these past few weeks, and I'm making sure none of them cause any harm.

[ She heaved a sigh. ] Honestly, Reimu... bringing morality into this. Again. [ It's all that stops her from laughing at the implication that she "turned" violent. ]

I don't feel any different than I usually do, except this autumn weather is such a bore. [ Yuuka paces a slow, deliberate circle around the shrine maiden, just out of arms' reach. ] If you want to make things interesting for me, you just have to say so, and stop wasting time.

Not enough flowers for your liking?

[Reimu's eyes followed as Yuuka walked around her. Her body was tense, and though she knows Yuuka would not attack while her back was turned, she took no chances.]

Perhaps I should just blast you away to make sure you don't try anything...

I have no need to lament for the flowers. It's only natural that they would be scarce. [ And, just like that, she is holding a rose in her hand. One that wasn't from anywhere nearby at all. ] What does bother me, is being robbed of my summer so swiftly. [ Damn time shenanigans.

She stops and twirls the stem of the flower between her fingers, not caring at all for the prickling of her skin. ] Is that what you call a "proactive attitude"?

[Reimu is unimpressed with the flower controls. She never found it that impressive. She is more impressed about her other abilities.]

It has been the right attitude before, it will be good now.

[She summons 4 ying yang orbs. Seems like she is not going to go easy.]

[ How many times have they played this game? One can't call it an eternal struggle by any means — Reimu wasn't that old and, before her, Yuuka had never bothered with the Hakurei family at al. Even so, at least the girl offered consistent challenges. ] Fine! Have you picked up any new tricks since we last battled?

[ She smiles with sinister intent. ] Show me yours and I'll show you mine~. [ And with that, the youkai leapt straight into the air to get into position. ]

[Reimu gave a slight sigh of relief. Yuuka seems to still be following the spell card rules, she thought. I don't have to worry about the strength as much then.

Reimu herself flew into the air and pulled out a card.]

Dream Land: Super Duplex Barrier!

[ Yuuka let out a laugh at the sight. The flying cards phasing in and out of the barriers gave her quite the challenge for avoidance, while the dense cluster of fire emanating from Reimu prevented her approach. Clever!

Clever; but nothing she cannot wait out. It doesn't prevent her from throwing short bursts of petal-like shots in Reimu's direction, to try and divert her attention. ]

[Reimu saw those shots, and expertly evaded them. Her experience shows as she starts to increase the amount of bullets fired at Yuuka.]

[ Then how about if she intensifies her fire, as well? What began as an array of flower-like bullets in wide shots became narrow, focused beams as she blasted away at Reimu.

In truth, she isn't aiming for Reimu; just at her enough to carve herself a path and get closer and closer. ]

[Reimu noticed Yuuka was trying to get closer. She wasn't sure why though. Yuuka, being slowly, would want to stay away from the fire, so she could have a better chance at dodging.

After a moment though, she thought of one reason why she would want to get closer... and so Reimu's Ying Yang orbs started to fire slightly homing shots at her, to make she Yuuka did not get withing melee distance.]

[ That poor Yuuka didn't stand a chance against the shots that were aimed to follow her movements. Even ducking behind the umbrella only helped so much, and the thin fabric tore easily as she... faded from view? ]

[ The reason for that display was simple. Slow in body but not slow in mind or instinct, the true Yuuka piped up from a short distance behind Reimu. ] You're not making this easy for me! [ More compliment than complaint, of course. When they're too easy they end up being too boring. ]

[Reimu see's the Yuuka get torn up, and knows something is up. When she hears Yuuka's voice behind her, her eyes go wide. Reimu quickly cancels the spellcard and turns around.]

That's the plan! Holy Relic: Ying Yang Sanctifier Orb!

[ At this range, the ball cannot get up the momentum it needs to roll her over. Or so she hoped, as Yuuka shut her umbrella swiftly and, using it as a bat of sorts, attempted to knock it off course. Batter up, Reimu! One could hardly expect her to play fair... ]

[Reimu was not expecting the ball to be hit back, and was caught off guard for a moment. She wasn't able to dodge, but she did throw up a quick barrier, which blocked a majority of the damage. Still, when it cleared Reimu looked a bit scrapped up, and very angry.]

WHAT THE HECK WAS THAT!? You aren't going by the spellcard rules!!

Exactly! [ Yuuka says with a snarl and a laugh, her assault unrelenting. Her follow-up comes right after Reimu deflects her own orb, attempting to rush in through the crushed barrier to grab at the girl — a hand, a foot, her face. It doesn't matter what she finds so long as she can apply a strong grip. ]

[Reimu sees the hand and tries to avoid being grabbed. She was caught off guard, and unfortunately Yuuka will be able to get Reimu's left foot.]

Gah! Let me go! Stop going against the rules you damn flower youkai!!

[ Sorry, Reimu, but Yuuka's not going to say anything or let go. Not until after using all her speed and might to drag the shrine maiden down and throw her against the ground, that is. Hope you like dirt! ]

[And down Reimu goes. She is slammed hard into the dirt, and coughs up some blood.]

Gah!!

I didn't catch that! Sorry. You'll have to— [ Yuuka grabs the back of the girl's uniform with both hands and drags her to her feet... and face-first into a nearby tree. ] —speak up!!

[ It isn't hard enough to kill even a human like her; she's just having a bit of fun~. ]

[Reimu is slammed against the tree, and can feel her nose break against the hard bark. She coughs, gritting her teeth against the pain. She had to get Yuuka off her, and she knew the perfect spell. She did a quick hand sign.]

Boundary: Expanding Boundary.((OOC 45 sec mark))

[ In her overconfidence, Yuuka left herself wide open to being repelled like that. She flies back and rolls along the ground once she makes her landing several yards away.

She slowly rose to her feet after a moment of stillness and laughed. ] Not quite finished yet, are you?

[Reimu wipes the blood from her nose onto the back of her hand, and spits some blood out of her mouth.]

You think I would be done in so easily? It would shame the hakurei name.

We can't have that, now can we? [ Which is said as she gathered energy at her sides and sent two concussive blasts right at Reimu and the tree. ]

[Reimu did some quick hand seals, and a strong barrier appeared in front of her, blocking the blast. Reimu looked at Yuuka and smirked.]

My Barriers will stop any of your attacks. I won't let you get close to me again.

[ Yuuka ceased her attack and pouted. ] How dull, Reimu. Protecting yourself with barriers and shields. [ Calmly, she walks over to where her umbrella was laying. ] Are you really so fragile, still, after all this time?

[ She picked the parasol up and brushed some dirt from it. ]

I don't have that freakish resistance like you do. I'm still human!

[ With a sly smile. ] There are ways around that, you know~.

So you want me to become a youkai or something like that? Now why would I do something like that?

Why wouldn't you? —or, better question, why haven't you, yet?

[Reimu clenched her fists in anger, and glares at Yuuka.]

Because, while I may be violent at times, prefer to settle things with action, and sometimes be lazy, I do not think so little of other peoples lives! I do what I do to protect others, not just for fun!

[ Yuuka put on a dramatic air, fingers on her chest, put-upon expression and everything. ] Honestly, Reimu! Are you implying that all youkai are violent and dangerous? You can still be as lazy and self-righteous as you want.

You'd just be... more powerful. [ And thus more interesting. You'd just love to be the apple of Yuuka's eye, wouldn't you? ]

[Reimu rolled her eyes at Yuukas display.]

Please. All the most Youkai like of Youkai are like that.

[She then smirks]

And given how I have beaten every Youkai I have ever fought, I think becoming one would make me weaker.

[ Yuuka wags a finger and turns halfway away. ] By your rules, perhaps~.

No other rules matter.

The rules only exist because you do, and you only survive because of those same rules. [ She begins to walk away. ] Keep that in mind!
