[ It's the afternoon when Subaru appears on the vine. She is seated on the edge of an open door facing outside the background obviously a traditional Japanese style building that long-term residents will recognize. The young woman is wearing a plain t-shirt and shorts, though she looks like she's been rolling around in the dirt. Her gaze is far away, like she didn't notice the mirror creeping up on her. Truth is, she just forgot about it in the brief few moments it took to coax it into unfurling for her. ]

...ah! Hi there. [ A smile. ] It's Subaru. I've been sort of keeping to myself lately since the incident with the sky pirates so I wanted to apologize to everyone, and see how you're all doing. [ It feels to her like she knows most of the Gardens by now, or has at least casually spoken with them all once or twice. That's almost as good as becoming her friend, in most cases. ]

I wanted to report on what I've been busy with! The roof of the inn is completely restored, now, so no more weird leaks or sudden noise from the wind. I'm also almost done building the swimming pool out back, but I'm still working on a pump and filter so that it won't end up looking like a murky pond after a few weeks, eheh...

[ Then her eyes are downcast, which does not go with her otherwise enthusiastic expression. ] I also... wanted to make a note that all the other rooms here are free, now, except my own. [ She pauses, looking over her shoulder into the building. ] I've been meaning to say something about it, but Vivio has been gone for some time. [ There is a sad smile there for that, but it's hard to tell with her turned away like that. ] I'm sure she's back at home, now, with her two mamas. ... I can't say I know what Suruga Kanbaru has gone home to, but I think it's the same for her. Her room was empty this morning except for the same kind of flower petals I swept away when Vivio disappeared.

[ After another pause, she turns back to the mirror, smiling a little easier even if it is a strain on her. ] So please, feel free to come visit at any time. You won't be a bother to me at all, and you can use any of the facilities here at your convenience. The onsen, the training mats in the corner rooms, the futons... even the kitchen and the ice cream maker! [ A wave. ] I think I'm going to go enjoy a cold treat right now, so I'll see you all later!

I'm just glad you're not in the dumps enough to not eat ice cream.

I did. [ And it earns Katina kiss on the cheek. Before the giggles, anyway. ] I thought ice cream was the cure for every mood that ails you? [ Telling her not to eat it would be like telling the sun not to shine. ]

Good thing I came over. [ Subaru doesn't escape that without a quick kiss on the lips. ]

Ice cream for some, chocolate for others... and there are people who just get drunk.

[ Good thing, indeed. Kisses were nice. Subaru is definitely selfish with the affection today. Heck, her whole post was basically a cry for people to not leave her alone today. ]

Mmm, I think I'd rather stick to the first two.

[ Next time she can just ask Katina directly - not that she doesn't usually get the gist of something like that. ]

The last one's more fun when you're having fun with it.

You mean it's not fun when you're not having fun? [ That's a little teasing tone, and Subaru giggles. ]

Hell, you'd be surprised how much fun you don't have with things that aren't fun.

...I think you lost me, Katina.

Yeah, I kinda lost myself there.

Anyways you know what I meant about drinking to have fun and not because you're sad right?

[ A nod. ] I thought that's what you meant, at first. [ Everything else got off-track from there. ] I could use some more fun. Just... not this place's idea of fun, exactly. [ No more pirates or battles or monsters for a while, please. ]

I've had enough crazy shit lately, I think I'm happy just relaxing a little now. Maybe you can show me how to make ice cream or something.

[ Subaru beams. ] I'd be glad to! I'm getting the hang of it, myself, and I've made some adjustments to the machine.

Maybe I can help you make a breakthrough that'll turn you into a gourmet ice cream... chef? Artisan?

[ She giggles. ] Maybe, maybe. Though I'd be happy just making ice cream that everyone can enjoy.

Yeah, that's a lot more important huh?

[ Shrug. ] I like what I've had, so that's more important than being the next Ben or Jerry.

Mmn! [ Wait. Subaru blinks at that. ] The next "who"...?

Oh, uh, these two guys who made really good ice cream a long time ago.

Ohh, okay. [ She laughs a bit. ] I'm not looking to make history, that's for sure!

[ Subaru tugs on Katina a bit. ] What flavor do you want to try?

[ Okay gonna go eat some ice cream. ] I dunno, what do you have for me this time?

Peaches! [ Beaming brightly. ] I met a girl named Chihiro today, and she brought fresh peaches. I think it turned out pretty good.

Fresh fruit has to be totally different from what you buy at the store.

[ A giggle as she fetches an extra bowl and spoon. ] You're only thinking about that now? I think as far as eating goes, this place is about as organic as you can get anywhere. [ Unless you use the sand to summon processed foods, anyway. ]

Beats the hell out of everything being freeze-dried and canned out in space, that's for sure.

[ Ice cream. Fresh, homemade, real fruit... ]

[ And spoon-fed! Open up, Katina. ] I can't even imagine what it'd be like to eat that all the time. We had to, a bit, for training and it was just... well...

[ How can she turn it down? She takes her time swallowing it. ] Damn that's better than any kind of dessert we get out there too.
