[ It's the afternoon when Subaru appears on the vine. She is seated on the edge of an open door facing outside the background obviously a traditional Japanese style building that long-term residents will recognize. The young woman is wearing a plain t-shirt and shorts, though she looks like she's been rolling around in the dirt. Her gaze is far away, like she didn't notice the mirror creeping up on her. Truth is, she just forgot about it in the brief few moments it took to coax it into unfurling for her. ]

...ah! Hi there. [ A smile. ] It's Subaru. I've been sort of keeping to myself lately since the incident with the sky pirates so I wanted to apologize to everyone, and see how you're all doing. [ It feels to her like she knows most of the Gardens by now, or has at least casually spoken with them all once or twice. That's almost as good as becoming her friend, in most cases. ]

I wanted to report on what I've been busy with! The roof of the inn is completely restored, now, so no more weird leaks or sudden noise from the wind. I'm also almost done building the swimming pool out back, but I'm still working on a pump and filter so that it won't end up looking like a murky pond after a few weeks, eheh...

[ Then her eyes are downcast, which does not go with her otherwise enthusiastic expression. ] I also... wanted to make a note that all the other rooms here are free, now, except my own. [ She pauses, looking over her shoulder into the building. ] I've been meaning to say something about it, but Vivio has been gone for some time. [ There is a sad smile there for that, but it's hard to tell with her turned away like that. ] I'm sure she's back at home, now, with her two mamas. ... I can't say I know what Suruga Kanbaru has gone home to, but I think it's the same for her. Her room was empty this morning except for the same kind of flower petals I swept away when Vivio disappeared.

[ After another pause, she turns back to the mirror, smiling a little easier even if it is a strain on her. ] So please, feel free to come visit at any time. You won't be a bother to me at all, and you can use any of the facilities here at your convenience. The onsen, the training mats in the corner rooms, the futons... even the kitchen and the ice cream maker! [ A wave. ] I think I'm going to go enjoy a cold treat right now, so I'll see you all later!

[ She laughs a bit. ] I wouldn't do that! What kind of guest would that make me?

[ Subaru considers it for a moment more. ] Maybe... having somewhere else to go when this place feels a bit too big would be nice.

[ Fortunately her own experience with house guests has been better. ] You won't have to worry about that. I'm early to bed and early up for my morning jogs with Sur— [ Erk. ] ...well, I guess just Katina, now.

[ Blink. ] Really? You'd want to?

I do run myself, Subaru. I just don't run with anyone.

Ahh, I didn't know that. That's good, though! I'd like it if you joined us. [ Though 5 AM is a little too early for her. ]

[ After a pause, she goes back to something Akiha said earlier. ] Wait, you said you were fixing a room up already? Did you get a new housemate? [ And what would have happened to the room where Sion had presumably been staying? Subaru didn't think the lady was here for long, but they seemed to be good friends, so it was probably natural that she was staying there. ]

[Yes, but the room needed cleaned again! It hadn't been used in weeks. As if Akiha would give someone a dirty room.]

Yes. Katina will be staying here from time to time. I'm not sure what exactly how often that will be given the woman is a vagabond, but she asked if she could.

Haha, that's a good word for it! She doesn't even stay here all the time. [ Implying that it would be more natural if she did. ]

I recall her staying at that red-headed woman's hotel the one time I was at her room. I wouldn't be surprised if she stayed in her robot a few times.

Heh, well that would be one use for her Gespenst, but it might not be too comfortable.

Yep! It might never work, but I think it's fun to look at.

I was going to have Sion make an engine for it.

...oh? [ A pensive hum. ] It seems like that could have been dangerous.

For anyone other than Sion - yes.

[ Given that Katina said it needed nuclear fusion "at minimum", Subaru would be concerned about someone constructing something in that power scale with the tools here. ] Eheh, maybe not. You knew her best. [ Not like they have to worry about it now. ]

Sion can figure anything out if she puts her mind to it. I know of no one more intelligent than her.

Honestly, I don't want to think of the Gespenst as fully functional. It's a scary thought. [ That something else could control it or, worse still, that something happens which necessitates something on that scale being active. ]

Why? At least it would serve a purpose then.

It's a weapon. [ Eyes downcast. It's nothing personal against Katina; she doesn't begrudge her job, but at the same time: ] We don't... need more of those around here.

It would've been very useful when the pirate showed up. Then I wouldn't have had to deal with the skeleton snake.

I don't want to treat that as a good example for having a functional giant robot around, as much as I think Katina would like it.
