I went to investigate the missing birds. I wanted to ask Mugi if she'd come with. Wasn't home. No big.

But when I actually get to the place I was going to scope out, I found a bottle in a tree. Inside... well...

-Akira holds up the bottle, pulling out its contents. Rolled up in the bottle are two pieces of parchment, lined for sheet music. The first page is a letter written in a neat cursive, with the words laid out in the space between the blocks for notation. It makes makes the spacing kind of awkward.-

-The second page is a page of haphazardly sketched musical notation (meant for piano, as those familiar will notice). There are lyrics, too, which are awfully cheery when you consider the fact the author was kidnapped! The title is "Dreams Dancing in the Clouds". Yeah, there's no questioning that this is authentic.-

... Is anyone else missing?

The music is what I gave up. I stopped the stupid, selfish idea of being some jazz pianist beatnik my whole life and got a real job when a position opened in the old man's company. It was my only way out of that hellish school and my only way to really provide for Lilly, who was dependent on me.

My music? It's a sham. A joke. A shadow of that old me who got left behind.

But...but its beautiful. I mean, I guess you say its a sham or whatever...but when I heard it, I could never think that. Nobody just plays things with their hands, does it like some robot. You feel junk, you hear it in your heartstuff and you just DO it. What I heard wasn't a lie, and you know it too.

And you can't just say you can't do stuff, you're smart dude! All I can do is fight, but you can come up with words and ideas and use 'em! Just remember what you're good at!

... It's nice that you have faith in my, Fionna, but I can't see a way that my skills would be useful here.

Well then think about it. I mean, we can handle the fighting junk, but its not all about that, is it? Some biz is going on with the Pirate Queen and the other queen that made this happen. Maybe you could help there.

And never say your music is a waste, cuz its not. I think even Mugi would be mad you said that about having that kind of gift.
