[ The video feed opens up to a very unamused purple haired alchemist, who is looking around trying to find some trace of the normal back alley she's used to. ]

It seems I've been taken out of Misaki City, current surroundings suggest some type of forest though it doesn't look the area near the mansion. [ There's a small sigh with a another quick glance around. ]

If someone could tell me where I am it would be greatly appreciated. Ries, Satsuki or anyone else who I would know if you see this please respond when you have the chance.

Mm, that's right!

Um, let's see... [ Tapping her chin. ] A little over seven months. When I arrived I think she had been here a while. I never asked! But I know the mansion was definitely built by then.

[ Seven months is a decent amount of time, but there was no way for her to be missing given that she saw her almost every day.]

Based on what you have said time must move differently here. [There's a small pause.] Though I can't be certain about it since I don't know the details of the mansion. Along with how long it took to build or the exact time in which Akiha or anyone else had arrived here.

That's what I heard, too, but I haven't seen any proof...

Well, except that my friend Vivio and I are from years apart, even though I just saw her a few days before I woke up here! But she was here for a looot longer. [ And that's all she'll really say about that. Subaru chuckles. ] I can't answer for those, but I can bring you there, if you want.

That would be more than enough proof to back any theory related to how time works here. You can't just magically have someone from a different time period from your own show up with out due cause.

That would be be greatly appreciated, I'd like to talk to Akiha as soon as possible.

Yeah, and I know Vivio's telling the truth because she's a good girl! [ Subaru chuckles. ]

Okay then! Are you still near the spot where everyone wakes up? It's kind of a regular thing, to get new arrivals, so I know the area well.

I haven't moved out of the area yet. Seeing as the chances of getting lost are very high and not worth risking.

Yeah, the Gardens are bigger than it feels at the start. I'll be there before you know it!

[ Which (if you want to go to action) is accomplished by Subaru skating her way to that area. She doesn't have her Barrier Jacket on, and isn't riding on her Wing Road, but she is wearing some pretty impressive motorized skates as she approaches from the distance. ]

[ Sion is slightly surprised at how fast that was considering the area seemed more like a forest then anything else. ]

The skates you have, did you have those on hand before you were brought here?

[ Her partner's not called "Mach Caliber" for nothing! ] These? Yeah, they're mine. You can make all kinds of things from the magic dust, but you have to be really careful with delicate parts. Eheh, sometimes things... don't go as you want them to.

Is there a limit to what you can make? [ because there's a wholel ot of things Sion would like to make considering she's without her normal lab equipment right now.]

If you can limit the chances of something going wrong then I don't see how it would be a problem. You just need to carefully plan and make sure no one gets in the way.

Not really. It's magical sand, so people have made anything from clothes to houses, to basketball courts. A friend of mine even replicated her mech! But... it can't be powered up, eheh. [ Shifting her weight, Subaru starts moving off in a direction. She waves for the lady to follow her as she explains, rolling along at a leisurely pace. ] The side effects of gathering and using the sand can be bad enough, but sometimes what happens is that you use it and whatever you make doesn't work out as planned! Like an ice cream maker that pumps out only things that smell like flowers.

Eheh, it's kind of unpredictable like that.

[ Sion just follows behind trying not to slow down or get in the way. ] If it's possible can I look at that mech later? For research purposes, I'm interested in how it was designed yet can't power up.

So the risk is unpredictable, I really don't think it's truly "unpredictable" everything has infinite possibilities it's a matter of calculating the right one.

Katina's? [ She smiles fondly. ] I don't mind asking her if you can take a look at it, but I think it's more or less just a statue right now.

[ As for the rest, she chuckles. ] If you want to experiment, be my guest, but just know there can be... consequences for it. Side effects is the best way to put it.

Side effects and other things along those lines are to be expected, but as an alchemist and a scientist I'm willing to take the risks. If this place offers different materials then what I normally have it might be useful for my research.

Aheh, those experiments might not turn out how you expect. [ A tiny sigh. ] I ended up with silver scales on my skin for one day. Another time, I lost my voice for a few days. [ She frowns. ] ...I switched bodies with my partner once. That was the scariest.

[atlasia]

If it's only for a day or so it seems bearable, though losing your voice must have been very annoying considering how much we talk on a daily basis.

Switched bodies... is that rare or does it happen a lot?

Hmm, I haven't heard of it happening to anyone else, but there are so many people here, and some have been here a lot longer and have built with the sand more than me. It's possible... that it's happened before?

[ Subaru takes a turn down a path, leading on through the orchard with its plants bearing out-of-season fruits of all kinds, and on toward Lake Sanguine, where the mansion was. ] It's also a bad idea to mess with the tapestry that holds the world together. [ Looking up. ] Like the barrier at the "top" of the sky.

[ Sion just keeps following Subaru making sure to mentally make notes about where they are and landmarks to remember for later in case she gets lost. ]

Reaching the top of that must take a lot of effort and some way to fly. Someone must have built a machine to do that sort of thing at one point if it's clear that it's a bad idea.

[ She giggles a moment. ] You could say that machinery was involved. [ A pointed throttling of the engines of her skates. ] My Wing Road can carry me pretty high, which makes up for the fact I can't fly on my own. My captain — back when she was here — tried the exact same thing. [ So if she ever gets a lecture about being reckless with breaking out, she can always just... point that it wasn't her idea at first. ]

If your captain tried to do that before it seems a bit odd to try and do something like that again if you've already collected the data from the first time. Even if the data was off it would still be of some use for what ever you needed it for?

I kind... didn't know it at the time. It was the first thing I tried when I arrived, eheh.
