[The video feed comes to life, showing a young Japanese school girl with bright yellow hair. She is wearing what looks like a normal school uniform with a big white fluffy sweater over it. There are tears in her eyes and she looks scared out of her wits.]

H-Hello? M-My name is K-Kise Yayoi. Please, w-where am I? [she holds up a scroll] A-A cat gave me this a-and said I-I could use this weird vine...can someone t-tell me how I-[her eyes widen with horror] Did I do the book thing wrong? [more tears fall from her eyes]

I-I'm sorry! I didn't mean to! I-I know th-the fairy said I-I needed to be careful but I wasn't even thinking of a-a-[she is cut off as she cries].

O-Okay. [mutters to self] I won't be afraid. I won't be afraid. [takes a deep breath]

Oh! I wonder if I still have it! [frantically searches herself and brings out a pink, girly looking compact] I still have it! Yay!

Fortunately, it doesn't seem like our possessions are taken away.

That's very pretty. Does it have a lot of sentimental value to you?

Oh yes! It does! *giggles* It's very special! It's got powerful magic and lets me turn into a superhero! I think it's supposed to be a secret though...

[Her smile vanishes at the mention of face, but she's more bewildered than suspicious.]

Superhero? What do you mean by that?

[Is now quite excited, though she is a little embarrassed]

Well, see, it's a long story but:

See where I'm from my friends and I can become superheros called Pretty Cure! We're legendary warriors!

How...? Do you protect others?

[She's has some bad experience with magic, but she's trying not to be so rashly dismissive.]

[smiles, has a small blush]

Well, you see, my friends and I-we fight these bad people that come from the kingdom of Bad Ends! Like in fairytales? And they send horrible monsters to steal bad energy to revive their master and we use our powers to stop them! Like superheroes! [her eyes sparkle at the mention of "superheroes"]

[Her expression begins to soften, and she manages a smile.]

Yes, it does sound very much like a fairy-tale. Though, a kingdom called "Bad Ends"?

Oh! [she nods, almost excitedly] Yes, it's a horrible place. There are these evil creatures that try to hurt the people in my world. My friends and I do our best to stop them.

...I see. It's not just a game for you, is it?

[To Sapphire, it almost sounds like a role-play game, but this girl seems too earnest about it for Sapphire to dismiss it so easily.]

[shakes her head, her curly hair tossing about]

I mean...I suppose at first, that is what we thought...but it's quite serious. If we fail, it could mean the Worst Ending for the whole universe...and we can't let that happen. As a Pretty Cure, I'll keep on fighting.

[she looks down at the compact in her hands, her eyes full of determination, then she starts to giggle]

I sounded just like a superhero then, didn't I?

It does sound like a great responsibility.

I'm not sure what exactly you mean by superhero, but yes, you do sound like a hero of sorts.

[her smile grows even wider and her eyes seem to sparkle]

It's great! We're just like superheroes, powering up, swooping in and saving the day from the bad guys! [blushes and giggles]

You seem almost too excited about that prospect. But on the other hand, it is good to take pride in one's job.

I love superheroes! It's...it's always been my secret dream to be a superhero. It's silly, but it's one I've had since I was a child...

It's never silly to want to protect others.

I guess so. It's so amazing sometimes that I can hardly believe it. Do you have any dreams?

Mm...

[She doesn't answer immediately, although she does manage a small smile.]

If anything, I dream of a peaceful, honest life.

[smiles] That sounds like a wonderful dream to have.
