[Reeve and Kadaj haven't been around lately, oddly, and Sephiroth feels somewhat restless, though she's not one to reach out and express her feelings. The Vine is still here for her, however. Quiet companion as it is, she's always found it, a living creature with a definite function, relatable.]

I've been here quite some time. More than a year. A year and two months, approximately. It feels like a significant length of time, but I haven't forgotten my home, my friends, the war. [Yet there's a slight note of resignation in her tone. She's a bit fatigued by her long stay.]

Many people that were once here have gone. [She's not sure, yet, if Reeve and Kadaj will be included in that number.] To those of you who are more recent arrivals, I have made a study of the Gardens throughout the months I've been here. I will be glad to help you, if I can, to offer you any information.

Others, I'm sure, have learned much since they arrived. Perhaps we could pool our knowledge.

How many of you have made significant findings? How many of you wish to discover all we can about this place, to return home? Or are you content to wait?

I may have said this already, but...I want to stay here. [she pauses.] I--I think I have to. But I also think everyone who wants to go home should get to...

I don't know about significant, but Utena and I started making a map. It's just sort of hard because everything keeps changing.

I know there are some who want to stay. I wouldn't blame them for that. Some may find this place preferable.

But I tire of it. [She started out tired of it.]

Yes, I patrol the Gardens daily. The landscape does shift a great deal. I haven't been able to determine why that is. A map would be useful for a limited time. Have you noticed what stays the same?

[she nods a bit.] Well--things don't usually go away after people make them, at least. Unless they get broken. Like the houses that people made for themselves, and the library, and stuff. And the places the Queen made for those parties. So it's more like the Gardens keep getting bigger to fit new things.

The Clock Tower used to be right by the dunes, but now they're further away.

Yes, our own creations are more or less stable. I've noticed that, too.

[She nods.]

Expanding into the Wilds, perhaps. It may grow larger, the more things we create. That could be part of the reason the Queen brought us here. She does want us to build, after all.

I want...I need to go home.

I have so much to do there. I haven't found out too much of use yet, however.

I feel much the same. There are others depending on me.

However, as far as I've been able to ascertain, when you leave this place, you will return to the moment you left it. Time will not go on without you.

That is reassuring, yet I'm no less eager to leave.

Even if that is true...it's important to keep focused. And that's difficult here.

You're correct, letting down our guard or losing our sense of purpose will do us no good, in any case. Though at least I don't have to worry that I've abandoned my men.

I think the Queen would prefer we not remain focused. This place can be wearing. Tedious.

And distracting as well, with the little things we must go through.

Even if I were able to find something to focus on I do not know how long continually I would be able to commit.

Yes, all the little tests and trials. They don't ever seem to stop.

I work on my training. And I patrol the Gardens, though it's been some time since anything truly dangerous appeared.

Nothing more? I'm not criticizing, simply...attempting to find a meaningful way to occupy my time.

I understand.

I do run experiments, also, but the Gardens aren't the ideal environment for scientific research, considering the odd effects they have on equipment.

[And she deals with Kadaj, but that's another matter.]

You might train with others. Or teach.

[Ky's going to politely choose not to address the science issue.]

Do you think we're likely to face a large-scale threat here that we could be prepared for?

It seems like people will simply disappear individually instead.

Actually, there have been large scale attacks made on the residents, on multiple occasions, though it has been some time since one occurred. Yet that is no reason to be unwary.

People's disappearances are another matter. They return home. I believe that is a result of the Gardens' inherent instability, not the Queen's doing.

What sort of large scale attack?

You don't believe that the Queen doesn't have to do with the Garden's instability?

On one occasion, there were plants that became monsters and attacked residents. On one occasion, residents of the gardens were turned into monsters and attacked each other. Another time, there was a door to another world opened here. That world, too, was populated by monsters, which came through and attacked in large numbers. Once, robots swept through the gardens, destroying all they came across.

I believe it is due to her unstable nature, or that of her realm, but not her direct doing. It is not her will. She would, to all appearances, and according to her own words, prefer to keep us here.

That certainly sounds quite dangerous.

[And like the sort of thing that should have been mentioned to Ky when she first showed up.]

Are you certain we don't need a force in place to protect ourselves?

Perhaps so, or maybe there's something specific that the people who get sent home did.

It was. People were injured.

I am not certain. I've tried organizing such a force, as have others, but those who were involved or interested have since disappeared. [She's a little fatigued by all this listlessness and lack of organization.]

I have interviewed people who left then returned, the ones who remembered this place and were undeniably the same individuals. They confirmed that hypothesis. They did nothing, and there was no commonality between their circumstances, other than randomly being sent home.

I see. I'll trust the investigation you've done into the topic then.

[Previous people have tried to tell Ky the same thing, but they didn't seem to have anything beyond person experience, if that, to make the argument with.]

Perhaps then the thing shouldn't be some large centralized organization, but something smaller, where experienced people train individuals well enough to fight and well enough to teach someone else if they have to? So it isn't reliant on any particular people.

Trust me, I don't intend to stick around.

[She sighs, throwing her hands up in the air.] Not that I know jack that's gonna help you. I only just got here. But you're not the only one who wants to get back.

Nor do I. Yet I have been here so long. People come and go randomly. Some remain mere days, and others many months.

I can understand your frustration. We'll be returned to the time we're taken from, but that's only some comfort while we're here.

It is good to hear I'm not alone.

Ugh. Honestly, all it feels like I can do is wait, at this point, unless you manage to figure something out.

[She nods.] I've been trying. But still, without any luck.

I seem to have hit a wall, where research is concerned. I haven't learned anything new in some time. I thought perhaps someone else might have.

I wouldn't hold out hope for it. Things seem pretty stagnant here to be honest.

They do, it's true. I've noticed it as well.

I'm not sure what else to do, at this point. Other than continue to train.

[It's frustrating.]

Just try to make the most of being stuck here until someone has a breakthrough, I guess.

[She already that Alice had been here for some time, but to hear of others... It was a little disheartening.]

Yes, and others have been here longer, I know.

However, some return home in a matter of weeks, or even mere days. There's no way to tell how long we'll stay.

It all seems so random. I really can't say that I like not knowing how long I'm going to be here for!

It is frustrating, I agree. We can't afford to act as if our stay will be temporary, yet we cannot truly settle--not that I'd wish to.

So... what exactly are we supposed to do?

I'd be interesting in talking about what you've learned in your study.

I'd be pleased to share what information I do have.

My research hasn't been very fruitful lately, unfortunately. I appear to have hit a wall where attainable information is concerned.

But I know a fair amount about this place, the Queen, and her servants.

How much do you have about the Queen herself?

She is a mysterious entity. Her origins are unknown. She appears to be unstable when she speaks, and often claims to have "forgotten" important things, but this could be deceptive. Clearly not humanlike or a humanlike form of life, though she appears to us in human form. She has appeared in person once or twice, but at those times, she was surrounded by a force field and could not be touched.

Her servants are called the Incarnae, but they do not always serve her faithfully. At one point, they staged a coup and locked the Queen in the Labyrinth.

What happened after she had been locked?

Are you doing okay? Um, emotionally? [It's hard to judge Sephiroth's emotional state most of the time.]
