[Claire waves a little when the mirror appears. She looks a little different today....namely because instead of blue, her hair is bright pink. But she doesn't seem bothered by this at all.]

Hello, everyone--now that things have settled down again, I'd like to extend an invitation. But first...has anyone seen Miss Canada lately? We agreed to do this together, but I haven't been able to get in touch with her.

Some time ago she made an ice skating rink, and it would be nice to all skate together before it gets warm again, don't you think? I've made some refreshments, too.

So did I! Though I'd never heard of a dunk tank before then...well, Aigis did the honors.

They're mostly relegated to state fairs and other old-fashioned events back home, but I still had pretty good aim.

I've never been to a fair before, so it was quite the experience.

Really? I don't usually bother with them, but it's nice to at least experience a few times.

Yes, it was very exciting. Those machines...rides, yes? I've never done anything like that before. The closest I've come to it was the lift in Babliograd.

Yeah, we've got a lot of those back home. Some of 'em are a lot bigger and crazier though - it's a pretty big business.

A business? So, it's the sort of thing you usually have to pay for? I feel even luckier, then.

Some of them are pretty expensive too, so it worked out pretty well here.

It was a little strange to realize you don't have to pay for anything here at first...but I think it makes things more peaceful.

That's only because we've got some omnipotent goddess queen providing it. That doesn't work in the real world.

That's true...it just seems like when money is involved, it becomes all people think about.

It's gotten to be so important in society that people who don't need any more still want all of it.

I think...that's why my village was happier trading things. Food, and help...we all worked together.

Life certainly sounds a lot easier like that...

I'm not sure about easier, but it was definitely more peaceful. Gathering the harvest for the winter can be hard work. But it never felt like a chore if we worked together.

I guess that's how life was for everyone in my own world, a long time ago.

Really? So it's very different now? I know in the cities, life isn't like that at all.

There are some parts of the world where it is, but there are other entire countries where things are more complicated.

My world is only one nation, Callegea. You mean to say yours has more?

[gun_cata]

Just one? Really? That...

There are over one-hundred-eighty nations, and most of them are really pretty tiny. I can't imagine people getting along well enough to bring that down under fifty.

One hundred and eighty...that's quite a lot. And they all have rulers?

[gun_cata]

Well, most of them don't have kings or queens like I guess you'd know them. The largest mostly have groups of leaders - a congress, parliament, something like that - and then one elected leader on top of all that.

Elected? So you mean...They're chosen instead of having a birthright?

[gun_cata]

Yeah. The specifics depend on the country, but generally you have whoever wants the position presenting the reasons why they're best for the job, and then the public votes.
