6th Inversion [Vine - Text/Accidental Video]

[The Vine unfurls to show the following letter:



A minute or so after the letter is sent, the mirror opens to show Akiha's bedroom. The fireplace is roaring and Akiha is sitting on the floor before it. Her knees are pulled up and she has her face buried in her arms, black hair pulled back in a ponytail. If one looks closely, her shoulder's shake every now and then.

Clearly, she's oblivious to the mirror's activation, but the Vine and Akiha never did get along...]

[Kris takes a seat on whatever little spot on the couch she can get.]

Hey!

[Yeah, she's being annoyingly cheerful.]

[Akiha peaks out from under her blankets, shifting a bit to give Kris more room.]

...why are you so happy? I nearly killed you last night.

[...]

Are you... are you okay?

[ported]

No you didn't! I'm perfectly fine.

[Instead, Akiha gets a hug.]

[ritsu_kouyou]

[For once, Akiha doesn't fight it, but shifts to lean against Kris and rest her head on her shoulder.]

Why are you like this?

[ported]

Isn't something like this my fault?

[ritsu_kouyou]

[Akiha looks up at Kris and blinks her eyes.]

No... None of it was your fault. I am the one at fault. I couldn't control my blood... I'm a monster, Kris. And now you know what kind of monster I really am...

[Kris just shakes her head in reply. Not how she remembered it at all.]

[ritsu_kouyou]

Stop it! I know who was at fault. You kept me from killing someone by making me turn on you.

[Tears sprung up into her eyes.]

Damnit, Kris, how could it possibly have not been my fault?

Because I didn't work hard enough to keep you happy like I promised.

[ritsu_kouyou]

[Yup. Absolutely no response to that. Akiha can't even fathom how her inversion and Kris' foolish promise coincided. It was Akiha's own prideful decision that caused her to go all demon.]

See? You don't have to feel bad.

[ritsu_kouyou]

[Akiha sits up with the most bewildered expression and fully faces Kris.]

I don't understand you. I'm half-demon. Something like this could happen again.

...but I'm very grateful to have you right now.

That never really bothered me to begin with.

[BIG SMILE.]

How could it not? I'm not even human. What would you have done if I had killed you?

[This is, of course, assuming Kris is aware that people come back from the dead there.]

[Kris just nuzzles Akiha.]

What does being human have to do with it?

[She comes from a world with many races, it's okaaaaay.]

And you wouldn't have killed me.

I could-- [Wow, she just doesn't UNDERSTAND Kris.]

...ho-- How do you know I wouldn't have killed you?

I know because you didn't kill me. Isn't that pretty simple?

[For some stupid reason, that made sense. If she had intended on killing Kris, she would be dead and not there... there... being Kris. Akiha looked down for a moment, brow furrowed and biting her bottom lip, and then she looked back up.

...only to lean forward and kiss Kris.]

[Kris is okay with this! Surprised but perfectly fine with it and more than eagerly returns her kiss.]

[Her arms looped about Kris' neck and pulled her close. Akiha was finding that kissing was good to keep herself from thinking too much, remembering what all she'd done... and to give Kris a proper thanks for stopping her.

...even if Kris didn't think anything of it.]

[Kris doesn't object or pull away. If this is Akiha's way of thanking her, she's fine with it.]

[ritsu_kouyou]

[Akiha started to take the kiss more intimate and then she shied away from it, breaking the kiss. There was a line she... she shouldn't cross. Yet another among many she drew for herself.]
