[After a ending her conversation with Kris, Lambda set out on a quest. A quest... to learn to make beef stew. This means that today she can be found doing various things centered around this particular task.]


A. Video
[When she appears on the Vine, Lambda is already dressed for going out, which in her case mostly means that she is in full armor. She doesn't waste time before cutting right to the heart of the matter.]

I require information on the preparation of beef stew.

[She doesn't know anyone to ask in particular, and she hadn't wanted to waste time hunting someone down, so this seemed like the most efficient course of action.]


B. Action
[A while later, she can be found in Orchard, carrying a large basket. (It's hard to say where she got this from; maybe she constructed it out of the dirt herself?) Whenever she comes to a vegetable patch, she stops and crouches down, picking and digging up a fair amount of just about everything she comes across. She's not certain what vegetables go well with beef, so she's just grabbing some of everything instead.]

[Also of note is the fact that what seems to be a living radish pokes its head out of the basket every so often. Perhaps its appetite is the reason the basket never seems to actually fill up...]


C. Action
[Finally, having collected all the vegetables she needs, she sets out with a fresh basket and no Hoppip to find the "Arena" Kris had mentioned. She can be encountered either wandering near and far in an attempt to locate the place or actually there, looking through the meat that has been laid out by the bears. Where did they leave the beef, now...?]

Alright! Be on the look out for me once you're there and when you need something! I'll gather up some recipe books in the meantime!

[Lambda nods once, then disappears from the mirror, apparently leaving to gather the ingredients mentioned in Claire's recipe. It's not until a while later that she arrives at the Arena, carrying both an empty basket and a basket full of vegetables as she browses through the various types of meat available.]

-And as said, Dizzy soon flies in herself, stretching out her wings once grounded.-

[Lambda glances up as Dizzy makes her entrance, staring at her for a moment. The wings might suggest she is a beastkin of some kind, but the data picked up by her sensors only yields an error message, so that can't be the case. This bothers her less that it likely would have even a month ago, so she doesn't question it. Instead, she mulls over what the proper social etiquette for this situation is, eventually settling on trying to catch Dizzy's attention with a (somewhat uncertain) wave.]

I see you've already gathered your veggies. Now it's time to choose what sort of beef you want, right?

...? "What kind"?

[WOAH DIZZY, YOU MEAN SHE HAS OPTIONS HERE? Stop blowing her mind.]

Well, there are different cuts that have subtle differences in flavor and larger differences in texture.

[Woahhhhhh cooking is hard. Lambda thinks, ultimately deciding it's best to defer to someone who knows better than she does.]

...What cuts of meat would be optimal for use in a stew?

You'll want something tender. It's absorbs flavor better that way. But you don't want anything ground. Cubed is better. So maybe... Chuck. You'll want chuck beef. That comes from the shoulder.

[cobbledtogether]

Understood.

[With that said, Lambda turns to the cuts of meat the bears have brought in, only to realize she doesn't know how to tell one from the other. She looks back to Dizzy again, her expression almost amusingly helpless.]

-She can't help a small giggle.-

Here, I'll show you. -She begins pointing at the different cuts, naming each of them.-

[And Lambda watches intently, staying quiet. As clueless as she is about some things, at least she generally only needs them explained once...]

See? Now you know the different cuts of beef and what they're used for! Now that we've settled that, let's take this chuck and cube it up.

Understood.

[She scans the immediate area for a knife, then, because she hadn't thought to take any from Akiha's kitchen before coming. By now, even she knows enough not to use any of the various blade-like implements at her disposal to cut food, at least.]

Um... need a knife?

...Yes.

[imperial_ray]

-Well that was easy enough. Dizzy could make her one.

... Out of ice, apparently.-

[cobbledtogether]

[Despite her reluctance to cut up meat with any of the number of sharp objects attached to her body, she apparently had no issue with using Dizzy's ice-knife. She takes it and sets to work immediately.]

[...All else aside, she can at least slice things efficiently.]

Very good! Well done! That's the perfect shape!

[cobbledtogether]

[Lambda still isn't accustomed to receiving praise, so Dizzy's words catch her off guard for a moment. Behind her visor, she blinks, but then she delivers a typically uncertain,] Thank you, [and continues working.]

-Better to get used to it. As she's gonna keep doing it.- You're welcome.

[cobbledtogether]

[For a moment, it looks as though she is going to respond, but then she realizes she has no idea whether or not there is something she is meant to say in reply to, "You're welcome." So, she turns her attention back to the meat without another word. At the rate she's going, she'll make short work of the cut of meat...]

There we are! That should be enough, right?

[She looks at the chunks of beef in front of her, performing a quick estimate of the amount present. (It's probably a good deal more accurate and estimation than what most people are capable of, but it's still an estimation nonetheless.) Enough with some left over...]
