The greatest certainty is change, for it flows like a river, leaving nothing untouched.

[The voice that speaks pauses for a moment.]

I was trapped before. With no confidence that there was a return possible. Until with great suddenness I once again found myself home. And so several seasons passed. Festivals, the building of another temple, births, deaths, the bringing down of a great beast that had terrorized us for years, and so on.

Then once again, I awoke and found myself here. But this time, I knew that captivity here is not endless. At any time, it might change. The winds of change flow, smoothly and continuously. At times they form a great tempest, but for the most part they are so quiet and gentle that you do not notice the changes occurring until you reflect upon what has passed and how much has transformed.

Ah, but such philosophical musings are a character defect of priests such as myself. There are other matters at hand. I have returned, and I have prepared a feast for all.

[The video suddenly switches on, revealing the plump green-skinned woman in colorful, loosely flowing robes. She makes a sweeping gesture across tables loaded down with dish after dish. Just how long did it take her to make all this?]

All who wish are welcome to come here, to where I have set up tables outside the Temple near to the Arena, and treat themselves as a guest. Partake, enjoy, rejoice!

Ah... I can't really imagine what kind of tricks some people here have.

Oh, yes, countless amazing possibilities lie out there. My tricks are nothing special beyond bringing into fruition what plants I might want, and a few shortcuts here and there for preparing for many people.

Just being brought here proves that just about anything you can think of is possible. I still haven't gotten used to it.

I have seen miracles scarcely smaller than that, but it is still an impressive miracle.

[It's a fairly multicultural, if frequently unfamiliar selection. Melia's homeland gets refugees and their foods from all over.

Is that a tongue of some kind in an orange-tinted sauce? Well, there're other things almost certainly more appetizing.]

[ RIGHT ignoring the tongue. Larry has a decidedly American palate, aside from what Indian dishes her father knew how to prepare, so she mostly grabs familiar looking vegetables, and something that at least looks like steak.

If it's actually marmoset or something please don't correct that notion. ]

[There's a good reason Melia's situated her temple near to the Arena. She's cooked up whatever meats she found there without regard for their origins.

Fortunately for Larry, this was close enough to steak to pass for it. It might even actually be beef. The marinading has given it a slight tang somewhat like vanilla combined with lemon.]

[ She'll accept standard game like elk or moose or antelope as well, though as she cuts in and takes a bite... well, whatever it is, it's good. ]

Huh. This is different. Good different.

Alas that I could not prepare some of the delicacies from my world. I could not find anything resembling creatures such as the eyebeast. But I am glad you are enjoying what I have on offer.

Eye...beast?

[ She pauses for a moment, trying not to imagine what an eyebeast would be. ]

But I can see from your expression you would rather me not speak more of it.

I would really rather not, yeah.

If it is a help, I can show you what came from beasts like that one. Four-legged beasts that, by the appearance of them, graze from the earth's bounty.

[Not too out there... Something common and appreciated by foreigners, at least, then. The drink Melia hands Larry is not too dissimilar to mead.]

[ She's never had mead, really, but while it's a little exotic it certainly doesn't taste bad. ]

Well, whatever this is, it's good.
