Has everyone been settling in alright so far? [She doesn't really give much time for anyone to answer this question before moving on. She crosses her arms over her chest and holds up a finger as she continues speaking, and she has a smile on her face.]

I think we should get all the information we've got about this place together. If you could, reply and let me know what kinds of things you've found here. Having all the information in one place would be a good idea, wouldn't it?

I wouldn't be of much help, I'm afraid. I've only just arrived. You will be taking further notes in the future, correct? If so, I will relay to you all that I have learned.

Where you place the information you've gathered? On the Vine?

[identity profile] border-phantasm.livejournal.com 2010-12-06 02:06 am (UTC)(link)
It does seem that way.

Anything specific?

[identity profile] border-phantasm.livejournal.com 2010-12-06 02:12 am (UTC)(link)
Well...to start with, the Queen of Hearts is less than sane.

I don't know...

It seems like death doesn't stop someone from coming here.

[She smiles into the mirror.]

Isn't that funny? I guess I should say strange.

The fish here make excellent pets.

Indeed! [ ] I've heard they taste pretty good too, but, well. Digestion. I'm not much of an expert on that.

Sure. This place mostly seems to like abducting earth-crawling humans who are boring with their weakness and powerlessness. It's probably scared of snagging more powered people. Also, it's surrounded by a wilderness where reality's totally screwed up, like the jungle. You'll get lost if you walk there. Oh, and there's a huge barrier in the sky, you can't fly too high due to it.

...

Did you hear the bit where I described all humans as earth-crawling?

I'd still rather not be here, myself, but I'm almost getting used to this place by now.

With all the new arrivals still being pulled in, I agree that sharing information would be a good idea, even if it ends up being more for their benefit than anything else.

Here's what I've gathered, for what it's worth: We've all been dragged into these Gardens from all kinds of different worlds; that much, I think most of us have known for a while now. Same for the fact that there's no men here. Then so-called Queen of Hearts who seems to be in charge here is... less than trustworthy. I believe something was said about "anchors", which I think should be investigated sooner rather than later. Also, I was part of an expedition into the "wild places" some time back; there's something not quite right about them, and I still have a sample of some earth I took from there that... seems to have some potential that I can't quite place just yet.

Anything else you want to know?

Hmm. It's also worth letting the newcomers know that there's no way of getting out of the Gardens and back to their own worlds... or at least there's no way out that we're aware of just yet.

There are ruins in the apparent center of these gardens from an unidentifiable culture.

All humanoids in this place aside from the Queen of Hearts and her coterie appear to have been brought in from elsewhere. I have no idea about the animals or plants, but they seem more like they're meant to be here, and less confused than humans and related creatures.

The Queen seems to be able to create and alter matter at will within these Gardens, including healing the injuries that her "guests" had before arriving or creating new structures and features.

People were brought here, apparently, from multiple worlds and even perhaps alternate time-spaces.

The "wishing" that brings down the excess stars is limited in size and in what the Queen is willing to let us have - no battlefield weapons, people, or escape devices, but tools and food are fine.

I think that's all for now.

It's the most mysterious place I've ever been, and I've been around.

[identity profile] hotshot-momma.livejournal.com 2010-12-06 08:31 pm (UTC)(link)
So far:

The Gardens are finite. There's an area outside of the Gardens that's, in the Queen's words, 'not done yet:' fluid and mutable. The earth from the wild places outside of the gardens can be shaped into fixed forms with an act of will - into food, or tools you could make by hand, or raw materials.

The Queen is not the only administrator of the garden; there's also a High Priestess and a Damsel. Their titles for themselves, not mine. The High Priestess's job, as she describes it, is to keep secrets from us - or choose to reveal them. I don't know what the Damsel does.

You cannot wish for weapons, anything above a certain size or complexity, for people or to escape; it's similar to the wild earth in its limits. You can wish for common raw materials and make weapons or complex machines from them.

I believe - and this is speculation, mind - that this world existed before the Queen and her cohorts drew us here, and that the Gardens are relatively recent compared to the world. The High Priestess spoke of 'Anchors' with some concern for them failing - I suspect, but have little direct evidence towards, the 'Anchors' being someone or something preventing the Garden from mutating like the Wild.
