[it did not take her a long time to get used to the vine and mirror communication, really. she has played with things like this before in her own house... the mirror shows her upper body, a young woman with bright green eyes and dirty blond hair falling over her shoulders just slightly curled at the end. she looks more annoyed than surprised, at the moment, gently waving the letter she received upon arrival]

So. Does this thing really work? Or am I having a wild dream again?

I know, but is just how things are. I em very happy on my own and plodding around, do not worry, really! I just miss my farm and all of the animals, is weird for me being here and not heffing to work as hard as I heff all my life as a nation.

[she's trying not to show her concern, too... she's England, after all]

Still... [she is about to argue, but then closes her mouth, silently coming to the conclusion that she will try to befriend this Ukraine] Have you made any other friends?

Not really, I heff talked with America briefly and I think one of the italies, Austria I heff...but no, not any friends really. Just Canada and she's very busy, she has many friends and things are always happening.

Canada has many friends? [hm! curious. she likes that] How long have you been here?

Oh, hm, easily a few months, maybe half a year? It's hard to tell here with so many things going on and people changing.

[she nods, still frowning deeply]

Is it always like this, then? People coming and going without warning?

Very often, although, I think the activity of people coming and going has gone down quite a bit. You're the first new person I've talked to in a while, well... first person I've talked to in a while period. [She gives a small laugh, she tries so hard not to let it get her down.]

But yes, it does happen.

And it's all the Queen's doing. [sigh] How awful.

[She really can be depressing sometimes.]

Yes, and her games I do not find fun. They are... frightening.

Would you mind telling me some of the things she's put you through? [more depressing subjects]

Oh, recently we had a dream sharing thing happen. Most were very bad nightmares and before that shadows of many of our former rulers or cruel people appeared. There was a spring festival that was very fun, a lot of talking with new people.

The Queen's magic must be very strong. [rubs her face, thinking] Why do you think she is keeping people here?

Yes, and I think it is because she find us entertaining, like pets.

But... on the vine is not a place to discuss this. If you like you can come to my cottage and I think I heff some tea if you want to talk? You can ask t'e cats where I am.

[she agrees that this isn't the place to discuss anything of the sort]

...Alright, then. I'll come talk to you in a few days.

[Ukraine smiles softly at her.]

Okie, is there any kinds of jam that you like? I've been making some here, need to keep busy.

[blink... are... you offering her a gift? she blushes a bit and waves her hands]

I-I wouldn't want you to go out of your way...

Is no trouble at all! Jam is easy and fun to make. I know you like your tea buiscuits or whatever they are and Jam is always good with them. Just give me a flavour, there are plenty of wild fruit and berries here in the garden.

[still blushing! it feels nice to have someone go out of their way for her...]

W-well... If you don't mind...

Is really no problem. I make lots of jam and I've become very good at it over the centuries.

[Ukraine gives her a bright smile and waves her hand dismissively.]

[looks down, poking her fingers together. Ukraine's jam IS good]

I... I suppose... blueberry?

Okie, I will make you a few bottles of blueberry jam, or would you rather jelly? I know Sweden likes jams and some others like France would rather jelly.

[looks up and waves her hands again] N-no no! I'm fine! Jam is brilliant!

Okie, you seem to be a little... stressed? Oh, and I know it's a bit odd to ask but where are you staying?

Staying... Currently, nowhere. I just got here. I didn't know there were houses.

There are quite a few places, um, I heff a spare room for now if you want to stay here while you find a place that you like. It's small and more of a cottage but at least you won't heff to sleep outside?

[Poor Ukraine knows her home is much more modest than what 75% of the other nations live in back home.]
