[it did not take her a long time to get used to the vine and mirror communication, really. she has played with things like this before in her own house... the mirror shows her upper body, a young woman with bright green eyes and dirty blond hair falling over her shoulders just slightly curled at the end. she looks more annoyed than surprised, at the moment, gently waving the letter she received upon arrival]

So. Does this thing really work? Or am I having a wild dream again?

England, I'm not high, if that's what you're thinking. Things are just... very odd here. [Canada bites her lip for a moment.] And be careful not to go into the labyrinth. It can make you see things like people trying to burn your flag.

[And Canada's flag is just a baby flag. She's still too giggly over it to watch things like that almost happen.]

[wow, she cannot follow Canada at all]

Please, slow down! One thing at a time. I only asked about times. So the Queen takes from different eras?

[Sensing that comprehension is an issue -- wow mum you're slow -- Canada just nods.]

[she's not slow. it's a TON OF INFORMATION to take in. and she's hearing that they are all trapped here and it worries her that her fellow countries can't free themselves. it's serious, and she's worried]

I wonder how that is possible. ...How have you been fairing here?

We're not quite sure how most of the Queen's things are possible. [She shrugs.] Things are horribly distressing here about three-quarters of the time. Otherwise, it's not bad.

Umm... would you like me to come fetch you to show you around some?

... [a pause, and then she nods] I believe that would be most wise. Thank you.

I'll be right there! Thanks, vine, that's good. [And the vine cuts the transmission at that, leaving Canada to make her speedy way over to the area where newcomers most often were. When she spies England, she pauses, then slows to a more acceptable pace over to her.

Only to all but tackle her in a hug.]

[England did not even see Canada coming... so the attack surprised her a lot. at first, she'd wondered where the other Country disappeared to.

at Canada;s attack, she falls back onto the grass, flailing]

G-got here quick, didn't you?

It wasn't very far. [Hugging!!] And, ah, your balance is still awful and that's wonderful except for when it isn't and I'm sorry but it's really good to have you around again and...

[Now that she's hugged England thoroughly enough, she sheepishly stands, then grabs her mother empire's hands and tugs her easily back to her feet. This is just one of those things that happens in this family and totally what you get for having former colonies stronger than you, England.] I've missed you.

[it's quite a shock for England to have someone be so warm to her. she is bright red! but once she is on her feet, she leans forward and returns Canada's hug with a much more prepared one of her own, smiling softly. Canada was always so sweet to her]

I've missed you too. Even back at home, I haven't seen you lately... [there, there. mummy's here]

[England's hug is returned with a much gentler one than the tackle, but it's still obviously affectionate and Canada's wearing a happy little smile, so easy to please when she pulls back.]

I know; it's been a hectic decade. But since you're from 1966, I know you'll be over for the Expo on my centennial soon. And everyone has fun, I promise. [Questionable when it comes to certain eastern and western powers meeting up during the festivities, but Canada simply hauled them apart and sent them on their separate ways. So it was fun, damnit.]

Your centennial...? [she pulls back, looking rather wistful] Has it really been that long already, my dear? [sob they grow up so fast. she reaches up to brush some of Canada's bangs out of her face. tender]

It has. A hundred and three years in the summer, just before I showed up here. If I keep this up, people might remember me some day, eh? [She's joking. (A: she doesn't care. B: she knows it isn't going to happen.]

[oh. now she feels bad. she scratches the side of her face, looking away nervously] H-haha... Yes...

[... Oh, shoot. Canada will be reaching out to pat England's arm now.]

Don't worry about it, Mum. I know you don't forget about me for too long at a time. Not so long as we've got the same monarchy.

[that makes her feel even worse fhjdfkgdh let's change subjects]

...So! What have you been up to while being here?

Well... I've been living with America, so keeping her fed is always a priority. Some strange things have happened as well, so dealing with those. Labyrinths, odd places to explore, shared dreams, things like that. And, erm, well I was sort of seeing someone, but she's gone now. I figure France might want to boast about that, so it's best I just tell you first.

[oh Canada. there you go, talking about so many things that it's hard for England to react. her face goes through several changes... from ashamed, to pleased, to skeptical, to excited, and then to...]

...France is here too?

She is. At least, she was earlier this week. I haven't seen her in a few days, but that's not uncommon.

What is that supposed to mean? She just... goes missing?

Not necessarily missing. I just don't see her routinely. [Which sucks but oh well.]

...Well, no matter! She's stupid anyway. I'm here now! You can see me any time you want! [i'm the better parent yep]

Thank you. [And okay that makes her smile because she really does love it when either of them try.] I'll help you get settled in and fill you in on everything we know so far. Maybe we'll actually be able to devise a plan to get out of here. Fresh eyes, you know?

Ah, you're on the same page as I am. [wink] I've actually been talking with a sweet lady who wants to help me counter the Queen's magic. But we'll definitely need help, and since you know more about this place than I do, I'd appreciate your guidance.
