001 ☠ video/action;
[She has not moved from the place where the Labyrinth finally spit her out, lying in the grass curled into herself. The vine has come to investigate, now that she has been returned to the Garden. Where has she been? Has she learned her lesson? Perhaps.
She's filthy. Her hair lank and knotted, her clothes muddied and ripped. With her arms wrapped around herself, she claws at her skin with blunted nails, keening miserably. She has hardly ceased since the storm ended.
She rocks back and forth, her forehead pressed into the dirt, and as she falls onto her side, the vine follows curiously. Her face is bruised and crusted with blood, wounds she had not felt at the time, and truly she does not feel them now.
The vines slithering finally draws her attention and she makes a low whimpering sound. Her face is dry of tears, at least. The dead do not cry in such a way, even if her mouth is trembling.
She stares at the vine a moment longer before she draws herself up and tries to slink away from its gaze, but it follows her. She gives up eventually, sinking back down at the base of a tree and hiding behind her drawn up knees. That same piercing little wail eventually begins again, muffled from within her protective huddle.]

[she's confused now. Zinc said she was dead, but she's moving and talking. What did "reanimate" mean?]
[She closes her fingers around Xion's wrist. She's a corpse, and she's cold like one.]
oh I guess it's [action] now lmfao
I don't...understand. You're...you're dead, but you're still here?
[she doesn't seem frightened, just confused. She always thought death was the end.]
[action] I noticed that last night but forgot to change it 8'|
I was shot. [She motions with her free hand to her forehead.] Then infected, and Reanimated. I move, but I am dead.
[And I eat human flesh, oops.]
[action] I should have noticed earlier, too. sob
[action] -strokes hair.-
[She emphasizes the singularity of that.]
Others, like me, barely think. They can barely speak.
[They could master a few words, if repeated often enough. If given the proper motivation to learn.]
Sometimes I can't either.
[They were animals, not humans. They lived only for hunger. She was the same, even if she could put on a good show. She pulls back her hand self-consciously, tucking her chin down with a shrug.]
[action]
I'm...I'm sorry. Isn't there...anything anyone can do?
[action]
Sometimes. There is a vaccine, if it is-- [The word she wants is 'administered' but it escapes her and frowns.] given soon enough. Too long, and the body dies. Or is already dead.
[She had been shot in the head. Barbet had cleaned and mended the wound, but if she were given the vaccine in full does, she would merely return to being dead.
She makes a little motion, for injections, with her free hand.]
Little bits, can help the bruises.
[action]
Vaccine? How do I get that? [she doesn't know what it is, but if it'll help, she'll do it.]
[action]
[Back home, Barbet had much of it as he could possibly want, that was part of his job. Zinc had never needed to suss it out herself, although she knew there were traitors within the CDC who would sell it as it suited them to, along with strains of the virus itself.
However, the contemplation is mostly null, because as they're talking a snake approaches them, dragging along a little pouch behind it.]
[action]
What's that...?
[action]
She reaches out for it, unwraps the strings of the satchel from around its body.]
A snake.
[She opens the purse strings, looking inside at the little syringes.]
...with the medication.
[action]
That's great...! [she peers over, and though it doesn't look like any medicine she's ever seen, she looks relieved.]
How do you use it?
[action]
So she shows Xion how the fingers are supposed to go around it. It takes Zinc both of her own hands to manage it. She shows how to make the liquid squirt, although her hand shakes tremendously in doing so. She frowns, and looks away.]
...I should ask Kuja. It's messy.
[Blood welled up with every little prick of it.]
[action]
Kuja...? You know her? I can try to find her.
[action]
[Kuja will turn up eventually, she always did. For now, Zinc just puts the syringes back in the bag with their plastic tops and then flops over unceremoniously across Xion's lap.]
[action]
[maybe Zinc is tired. Can the dead get tired? She's not sure she wants to ask. Instead, she starts carefully picking leaves and grass out of the other's hair.]
Do you have...someplace to go? The treehouse, it was ruined...I guess most of the buildings were.
[action]
I can't go back.
[action]
[action]
[She murmurs quietly. It wasn't like Gabrielle was just going to forget, they were going to tell everyone the terrible thing she'd done, wouldn't let her live peacefully with children.]
[action]
[even if it's explained, she probably won't understand. They've all done terrible things they didn't mean. If they were sorry, that's what's important to her.]
[action]
I hurt people, maybe you too.
[action]
You haven't hurt me. You mean...you will? But why? You don't seem like a bad person.
[action]
[They were not considered people, the laws were quite emphatic about that, and their insistence as such was what made controlling the gangs through legal means so difficult.
Barbet and Facon were the only ones who would treat her even passingly human, and that was because they had too many memories of her to do otherwise. It was only a facade, however, they were always quick to remind her she was no longer what she was. And she didn't need their help in that, she was taunted by her limitations every day.]
Reanimates eat people.
[action]
[she shakes her head.]
You...you didn't, did you? Do...that...to someone?
[though she sounds horrified, she doesn't pull away. She doesn't feel afraid, just bewildered.]
