Fourth Leap [Text][Anonymous] Tanabata (7/7)

[Wishes...

They were central to every magical girl's being back home, what they traded their fate for, what they would end up fighting for. Yet that was only one wish, in a life filled with them. Meanwhile, everyone has wishes, some that don't come true, some that do.

But what is too much to wish for?

To hurt someone or to bend someone's will, that would surely be too much. But what about always wanting to be around someone? To never have to say "Goodbye", just "See you later" at most. Is it too much to want to be around someone forever? Even if they're friends?

These questions have been on Homura's mind, ones that she can't answer on her own, ones she can't even think of broaching to someone in person. It would probably be embarrassing at best...and maybe whoever she would ask would think poorly of her for even asking it hypothetically.

But...thinking back to another question which came across the Vine in text, anonymously asking a question, she goes to the Vine, her own question of sorts in mind. It would be easier to write something, wouldn't it? That way, she wouldn't have to worry about someone seeing her face or stammering.

She wouldn't ask it, exactly. But...if she could see what other people would wish for...maybe she would see how weird or normal of a wish it really is. And today works out to be a good day for wishes as it is anyway...]

[Homura carefully writes on the scroll that appears from the Vine. While not exactly elegant, her writing is tidy and easy to read.]

Today is Tanabata, isn't it? July 7th.

Maybe it's not known to most people here, but Tanabata is a festival each summer in Japan on the world called Earth. There's a story about a Weaving Princess (the star Vega) and a Cow Herder (the star Altair) who fell in love, but were forced to live on either side of a river in the night sky. They could only meet one night each year, on this date.

There's a tradition of writing our wishes on a strip of paper and tying it to bamboo on this day, wishing upon these two stars so that we may have our wishes fulfilled like they do each year.

I'm not sure where to go to find bamboo, but maybe we can try this here, "tying" our wishes to this Vine. Everyone can write down their wish, keeping it a secret who wrote it.

No one has to if they don't want to, of course. But I think it might be nice.

[Drawing a long rectangle at the bottom of the scroll, she writes inside it using a more cursive script:]

For us to be happy here.

[She adds a "string" to the top, tied in a loop. The message ends with no signature.]
