❀ action

[In the orchard, a young woman sits curled up beneath a star apple tree, holding one of the deep purple fruits in her hands. She's split it open, revealing the star shaped core. She murmurs to herself.] Mm... It can't be that simple, can it? Wishing on stars... [It hasn't exactly been working out well for others, from her observations, but... She can't deny that she's curious.]

Let's see... I wish to go home.

[A star-shaped silver capsule hits the earth in front of her, and with a faint frown, she opens it to reveal a map. She pauses for a moment, her fingertips softly skimming across the edges of it, before setting it gently down beside her. She casts her eyes back to the sky and frowns. Her eyes then catch sight of a wild turkey roaming the orchard in the distance.

Fine, then. She may as well get something useful here.]
I wish for a rifle.

[The next capsule contains a book. She frowns, not understanding the connection, but then it opens all on its own and begins flipping its own pages. Rifling. She would groan at how tacky the misinterpretation is if she weren't so annoyed. She shuts the book and stuffs it back in its capsule, repeating the wish. Perhaps she needs to be more specific.]

I wish for a sniper rifle.

[The next capsule is much larger. She smiles, reaching out to open it- she's hoping for something familiar, like a Dragunov SVD- and pulls out this. All... right, then. The Hello Kitty design is... unusual, but a rifle is a rifle. She brings it up to her shoulder, seeming very familiar with how to hold the weapon properly, and looks through the scope until she's locked onto the wild turkey. She waits until her shot is clear and steady, and then fires.

Except there's no bullet leaving the chamber. Instead, the gun shoots a shower of glitter and rhinestones which poof into the air in an enormous cloud. Vietnam winds up covered in rainbow sparkles. She tosses the gun aside, giving a sharp exclamation and a curse word or two in her own language as she tries to shake glitter out of her hair and clothes.]

T-trời ơi-!

No. And I hope I'm wrong. But between the all-female staff and inmates and the clothing offered to us, you have to wonder.

My name is Anna Lin, by the way.

about 5 minutes and some blotted out words later

Well, that makes me believe 'America' is who she claims to be a bit more, if nothing else.

I'm not used to meeting countries, okay!? Nothing personal. You're only the second one I've met, and that's if you're actually the spirit of Vietnam and Amelia actually is the spirit of the USA.

I asked he- the woman claiming to be America for something else to call her. That's what she offered.

Ever heard of Amelia Earheart? It kind of fits.
