[Following her adventure with Fela, Sephiroth decided to sail out to see if the ocean could be crossed. As it turns out, it could not be. After Sephiroth reached a certain point, she lost consciousness and awoke back on the shore, where her journey began. For her efforts, she was rewarded with a wildcard effect.

She is currently nine years old. More than that, she temporarily has only the memories of her nine year old self.

The silver-haired, green-eyed child is currently kneeling on the beach, wearing the white gown of a new arrival. The birds brought the garment for her because her usual clothes had become too large for her to wear. Her sword, pauldrons, and battle gear lie beside her on the sand. She remains still, as if waiting for something, though she has the slightly impatient air of someone who feels she has been waiting too long.

The Vine has wound its way toward her, and when it produces a mirror, she studies it curiously. It is something like a screen, and she needs to contact the researchers. She addresses it formally.]

Subject name Sephiroth.

I believe the intercom or the program may be malfunctioning. I have received no instructions, and the simulation is inactive. Please respond.

Could be both, too. Since there's not a lot of decoration and all, it's really hard to tell.

Whoa. [Not quite as jumpy as with SEPHIROTH OUT OF FUCKING NOWHERE, but she's still not used to that.] Uhh, some chips and fruit cups, Sprite, and the books. They're a little out of date, but mostly solid information.

Their proper name was the Cetra. Not much is known about them, but they were said to be quite powerful.

Yes, the style of architecture seems to have been simple. Likely not an advanced society.

Cetra. I'll have to ask you about them later. [For now she'll spread out the blanket and set up everything. Books and masonry chunks make good improvised blanketweights.]

[Sephiroth nods, having noticed the lack of rebar, but she's more interested in the food for the moment.]

My diet is strictly regulated. [Yet she does want to eat the strange food.] Is Sprite the name of this beverage?

...I'm gonna go out on a limb and say you're not gonna have to worry about that for a while.

Yeah, it's, uh, carbonated, and lemon-lime flavored. Supposedly. Want some?

I ordinarily eat military rations. [She says this quite cheerfully. Hurrah, rations!] But I will make an exception, considering these extraordinary circumstances.

Yes, I'd like to try some.

...wow, yeah, this is probably better than MREs, unless you guys feed your troops better than anyone back home does.

[She pops open a can and passes it over.]

I am not sure about your world, but I enjoy the rations.

[Sephiroth takes a thoughtful sip. She has never had soft drinks before.] It is very sweet. I do not think it tastes like citrus.

Yeah, soft drinks don't usually taste what they're supposed to taste like. I guess everyone just pretends. Or else they've never had the actual flavor before.

But do you like it?

I don't typically have sweet food, but it is not unpleasant. [She drinks some more, then turns her attention to the food.] Is this representative of a typical meal in your world? It is not too different from the food of my world. [She sounds almost disappointed by this.]

Well, my particular part of the world. There's a lot of different places that eat different stuff. Some of it gets pretty weird.

[Sephiroth starts to eat, curiously.] It is a little different.

What is the most weird food people eat there? I've heard that people in Wutai eat a soup of squid in their own ink. I would like to try it.

[She is hardly an expert on world cuisine, but she tries to remember if she's heard any other interesting facts.] On the northern continent, they cook using sea monster fat.

Hm, most weird... well, some people eat bugs, which... no. [Jessica does not want to eat anything with more than four legs.] And, like, soup made of blood. Though that sort of makes sense, since it's so nutritious. Still kinda weird.

Wonder what that tastes like. Can't be worse than lard or something.
