[The important things out of the way, Meta having found her armor and finally gotten the cats to leave by reading their silly little scrolls, she makes use of the vine to try and gather more information. At this point, she didn't care about any gardens, didn't care about any Queen; her only drive was the AI she'd had and the one she'd been persuing. They were there moments ago, she'd find them again.]

[The vine records a written message in sharp, angular writing, penned by a hand that's known more anger and less sanity than any woman has the right to know.]

[AH, that's how they work. Meta writes, her penmenship angular and sharp caps.]

[She still had to check up on that Texas lead, if she could figure out who that woman was who accused her of being Mexico, of all things.]

[At this she gives an emphasizing jerk towards the fortress.]

It's a pleasure to meet you. What's your name? There are women here from a variety of different worlds, so there might be someone from yours.

No, I live here, along with Jessica and Bulbasaur, but this fortress is designed to be a shelter in case of danger, not a residence for a large number. The people here live in a variety of structures, scattered all throughout the Gardens.

[She had been expecting her Epsilon -- or rather, hers and in the Epsilon from her world. She nods, though, because there's still the little matter of Texas.]

[She completely dismisses the first part; he prospect of danger doesn't phase her, being one of the heavy hitters from her own world. Hopefully her confidence would stand up to the test when the going gets tough.]

Beyond the borders of the Gardens, there are what are called Wild Places. Something about them makes people lose their way. Or forget themselves. [She knows them well after having taken Dot there, trying to help her escape from danger.] There's no way through them. We're closed in here by some power.

[She remembered hearing about those.]

Yes, you could call them that. Sometimes one simply loses consciousness and appears back inside the Gardens.

No. The Queen claims to be controlling this place, but we see her rarely. People say her power is magic, but it's impossible to tell. I wish I could tell you more about it, but no one knows any specifics. I think all such information is deliberately kept from us.

[She just growls lowly at that for a moment. 'Magic'? Really? Meta comes from a land of science and technology. She has no use for magic.]

[Epsilon understands that growl. She can empathize. Things that resemble the Meta's armor are much more familiar to her than anything magical.]

There's no magic where I come from, but apparently there are people here from universes where it exists.

It might be a form of technology that is advanced beyond anything I can recognize, but I can't say.

[Even though this isn't her Epsilon, Meta's still associating them together more and more. If she were sane she'd recognize the difference, but as it is it's easier to ignore that and mentally emphasize the similarities, no matter how few.]

I find it so as well. It gets a little easier to deal with, with time. If not easier to understand.

As I said, there are others here who know a great deal about magic, but they don't seem to be able to understand it, either. No one's been able to find a way out, or a way to seek out the Queen.

[She growls, soft and sustained. It certainly seemed like a dilemma.]
