1st Mission

[The Vine shows a woman lounging in the grass. She's on the lean side, green eyed, and crowned with a messy head of vividly red hair. There are marks on her face that might be tattoos: a single scarlet slash under each eye. She looks as if she started to get dressed but grew bored or tired midway through the attempt. She's wearing nothing but a white dress shirt, half-buttoned, a black bra, and black underwear. A cat with a scroll in its mouth is pawing at her as she yells at the trees, probably not for the first time.]

Hey, Rude! You there? Come on.

[She sighs, impatiently. Maybe she should actually go look for whoever she's calling for, but she doesn't stir. That would be too much effort. The cat is insistent, and she turns toward it instead.] Get lost, kitty. I already read that. Last thing I need is cats telling me what to do.

[Yet she doesn't seem too bothered, and when the cat starts batting her hand, she bats back, playfully. When she finally notices the mirror, she cocks her head at it, then leans forward and taps it. She makes a face in it, experimentally, then sticks her tongue out at it.]

Is this a joke? It's not fucking funny. [Wait. If it were a prank, it would actually be an awesome one.] Heh. Maybe it's a little funny.

This would have to happen on my day off. So, what's up, plant mirror thing?

I know, right? [This gets a laugh.] Not tied up, no threats of bodily harm--it's more like being forcibly invited to some kid's stupid picnic.

[For her first time being on the receiving end of a kidnapping, she's really lucked out.] What's your take on this place? I've heard we're supposed to get friendly with each other.

Well, it makes a nice vacation, but mostly I'm curious about how it works. Things just seem to appear when the Queen or someone else feels like it. Then there's the Labyrinth and this new Island place...

...and of course, a lot of people want to go home, and I'd like to be able to, just on principle.

I could sure do with a vacation, but this is a lame one so far. I don't appreciate being dragged around without being asked, so I'd rather go home, too.

Stuff appearing just sounds like magic to me. Is it some kind of Materia?

Materia? I don't know what that is. I've just figured the Queen has some kind of control over space here. The edges of the Gardens have stuff that's shapeable by anyone, too.

Oh right, other worlds. Materia's how we do magic. You can do all kinds of things with it.

The problem with figuring stuff like that out is that usually only the people who can do it can get it. But good luck. [Her tone is less than optimistic.]

Made my sword out of it. I left my old one at my uncle's house, and I can't exactly forge by hand...

I got my rod with me. [Said rod is suddenly in evidence as she swings it around.] That's all I need.

I kind of picked up swordfighting last time I fell into a weird world with random monster attacks...

Yeah, monsters are a real pain. Like I said, I've got my rod, so I can deal with most of them, but I hope there aren't too many of them here, cause I'm not in the mood.

Just had to deal with a huge monster attack a week ago, and I'd like to take a break, for once.

I've never heard of someplace without them. Unless it's in a city with a lot of defenses.

Huh. That's weird. I've never heard of any other planets with people on them before. But I heard of aliens, so I guess they had to come from somewhere.
