seventh petal.

[ video ]

[The mirror opens up on Estelle's face close and wide-eyed in view, flushed and awkward.]

I have to say something. I think...if I don't, I won't forgive myself.

[She takes a deep breath.]

I didn't go into the Labyrinth because I was scared!

Um, it wouldn't have mattered in the end, would it? I'm sure I couldn't have convinced the Queen to change her mind...but I should have tried. I'm sorry!

I know it doesn't make up for it, but if anyone needs help preparing for the ball...I think I can help. I learned dancing in the castle.

Going in there would have been a waste of time, so it was a bit pointless to tell everyone you were scared.

...Don't beat yourself up.

[Sol sounds a little softer than normal, but that's mostly because she's still tired from her own journey through the Labyrinth.]

[identity profile] dragoninstalled.livejournal.com 2011-04-04 08:10 pm (UTC)(link)
[...Right, okay. Different worlds. Maybe they don't have that phrase where she comes from.]

It's a figure of speech.

[She's doing her best to sound patient.]

[Sol just shrugs a shoulder.]

There's people like that anywhere.

Don't fret, now. Didn't make much of a difference in the end, and it's not the kind of place you should've been in anyway.

[identity profile] brands.livejournal.com 2011-04-04 08:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe so. But I'm saying this in confidence: no one belonged in that place. It was a waste of time. You were better off not going.

You kidding me? If you ask me, we should've kept her in there. All that trouble, and she takes back her promise.

It's okay. I...I didn't go either.

[she didn't really go looking, didn't know there were entrances there. Too many things were weighing on her mind.]

I don't think anyone will blame you. We're all in the same situation, right?

[she pauses, a little hesitant, but Estelle had been nice before, so maybe she'll explain.]

So what do, um...dancing and dresses have to do with "balls"?

[a place where love was restricted like that? It's hard for her to imagine. She knows there are all sorts of worlds out there, but...]

Girls don't...? But why? That seems...sad.

[a ball is a party. She files that information away carefully. She's got the "prince" part down thanks to conversations about princesses with both Soras, but one bit is still missing from her knowledge.]

What does "marry" mean?

[identity profile] leaveit2lammy.livejournal.com 2011-04-04 03:30 am (UTC)(link)
[Lammy would really like to say something.

However, she doubts she could really effectively console, and she never went to the labyrinth, either, so, pursuing other topic.]

You don't think we're gonna... haa - have to dance, are we...?

[identity profile] leaveit2lammy.livejournal.com 2011-04-05 04:32 am (UTC)(link)
I... guess you're right. There's really - really no way I could dance, but I-I-I was thinking I was just gonna go anyway since they seem like they want everyone to... I guess it would be kinda crazy for them to try to force everyone there to dance, heh, huh...?

[identity profile] knowsfly.livejournal.com 2011-04-04 05:33 am (UTC)(link)
You know, sometimes admitting you were scared takes more courage than anything.

[identity profile] knowsfly.livejournal.com 2011-04-04 10:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Well when you think about it, you had no way of knowing about how people would react to you admitting what you did, and no one would have known otherwise if you hadn't said anything, but you still decided it was better to be honest!

That sounds like courage to me.

[identity profile] notvitiligo.livejournal.com 2011-04-04 01:59 pm (UTC)(link)
There is, frankly, no way anyone could convince me to go in that place voluntarily, so you're not alone.

Wait, are we going to have to dance? Like, for real dancing?

[identity profile] notvitiligo.livejournal.com 2011-04-04 08:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I am SO far from breaking any rules that I don't think it'll be an issue. Well, assuming nobody in power just goes crazy.

...wouldn't those do the dancing for me already? I mean, I'll be OK as long as I don't have to do anything beyond "move in a vaguely rhythmic manner."

[identity profile] notvitiligo.livejournal.com 2011-04-04 08:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, but I wouldn't have to learn anything, right?

Also, I thought it was until your feet burned off. Though either way, it sounds undesirable.

[identity profile] sistagonist.livejournal.com 2011-04-04 09:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Being scared is completely natural; don't worry about it. I think a lot of people here are more experienced than usual at exploring weird dungeons, so I wouldn't say "hey, a labyrinth! Let's jump in!" is a normal reaction.

Meaning I'm abnormal, but whatever.

It's all right to feel afraid.

I'm glad you didn't go there. I don't think anyone should.
