[After the events of this thread, Mami can be found in the Gardens. She's become very....popular with the local wildlife; there's a fox snuggling in her lap, rabbits nestling contentedly by her feet, a quail perching on her knee and a cat nuzzling her arm.

For awhile, Mami silently preoccupies herself with petting all her animal admirers. For awhile, she focuses on them and not what occurred inside the Labyrinth, not the lurking idea that everything she saw was a horrible illusion. (She deserves for it all to have been real, so that cannot be. Never mind the sudden vanishing of all those bloodstains....) Then she reaches out to a nearby Vine, speaking to it, and the plant obliges her with a mirror shrouded in leafy boughs.

She's very tired, but still smiling- although the expression itself seems...a little less there, a little more whittled down. To those who might notice that sort of thing, anyway.]

I don't suppose this kind of behavior is normal for these creatures? Not that I mean to fuss- this is rather nice. I never had a pet before, or anything similar.

[a pause to scritch the cat, who has by now become quite persistent, behind the ears]

.....However, that's not important right now. I don't know if I was able to save the Queen. Please, has anyone heard from Miss Harlaown or her daughter, Vivio? They went into the Labyrinth with me and I've yet to hear from them.

I can only hope they're safe.

Ah, so you must have split up sometime. [This was a lie, even Alice could tell something was up, but she knew better than to press on that. But as for the other point...]

So, what was she like?

Not like anything I was expecting, to be honest. I thought she'd be fickle, maybe even cruel in a haughty way, although I know it's unkind of me to say so.

But in a word? Lonely, although she kept smiling and trying to be motherly.

... Odd. Although, considering what has happened, maybe not entirely unexpected.

Must be painful, being alone like that.

Yes, I'm sure it is.

She said that's why she brought us here in the first place- so we wouldn't be alone.

[A rather obvious chord is struck as she hears that. The slight pained noise should help with identification.]

But I wasn't alone! I don't need to be taken away to magic garden of girls!

But that ties into what I just said, about her trying to be motherly; I got the feeling that she doesn't really know what it means. She assumed that our situations were the same as hers, and acted accordingly.

Fortunate... what, are you saying you weren't?

I guess I can understand that. I mean, not in a similar situation kind of understanding, but a logical one. Though that really raises questions.

[quietly chuckles, and doesn't answer that.]

At the very least, I can believe that she had good intentions.

[Another question that doesn't have an answer. This strikes Alice as being amazingly suspicious now.]

What about those that threw her away?

[darn, and here she is getting her Disney princess on and everything]

They weren't pleased with those in the Labyrinth- if it was indeed them at all. The horrors were very personalized.

Aha, so I was right. There was something up with that place everyone was going into.

I don't know, maybe? I've never faced it before, I can say that much. Though, if I had to guess... one of them would be an inevitability.

Whether you would have been fooled by the illusion, though, I obviously can't say.
