There is no maybe. We come from similar worlds with slight differences, as I said. I don't doubt that the man named Sephiroth had a different experience. [In some ways. Not in the laboratory. Of course she wouldn't have been given a different name, even if she'd been born male.] I joined SOLDIER at the age of fourteen, and I have a very clear recollection of the negative reaction caused by my sex. I was the first woman in SOLDIER, although I have heard that recently, the number of women wishing to join the military has risen significantly. [She doesn't doubt that that is because of Shinra's seeming desire to plaster her face everywhere.]

[She notes the slight shift in handwriting, but does not react to it. She gives no more advice. Although she does not wish Tifa harm, she would not give someone who is possibly hostile too much assistance.] In analyzing what I have learned from speaking to you and to Aerith, I believe my early years are somewhat similar to those of this male Sephiroth. He is in SOLDIER. He is respected. However, there is a point at which this changes. I am sure you will not tell me what causes this change. I will not ask you. [Interestingly, they both mentioned someone named Cloud. She assumes that this is quite significant. Is Cloud someone she should seek out, or someone she should avoid?]

Tell me only this: if I am dead, is the same true of my friends in SOLDIER? If there is some way I could protect them, I would like to know. [Perhaps she cannot trust Tifa's answer, but she can ask, and an answer might tell her something.]
