[Upon arriving, her first act was to recover her clothes and her sword. Only after thoroughly surveying the surrounding area and reading the cat's scroll does she attempt to access the Vine.

The image that appears is that of an androgynous woman with silver hair and bright green eyes. She does not seem happy, but then, she doesn't seem particularly upset, either. For thirty seconds or so, she is silent, examining the Vine and the mirror it has produced. She touches the Vine, curiously, and appears intrigued by the way it responds to her. At last, she speaks, in a low, calm voice.]

How interesting. I am unfamiliar with this technology.

[She raises her voice to a normal speaking volume.]

If this is transmitting and someone is receiving, please inform. Identify yourself. This is Sephiroth, of SOLDIER. I repeat, this is Sephiroth, of SOLDIER.

[A pause. When she next speaks, a note of concern is audible in her tone, disturbing the calm of her voice very slightly.]

Angeal, if you receive this, respond.

[She falls into silence, processing this. Sephiroth being a woman aside--she's heard that the magic here caused such things. But not knowing of Nibelheim...thinking the Wutai War was still going on...]

You're...you're from before. Before everything happened...

The Wutai War, it ended seven years ago.

I have been told that the people here come from different worlds. I see no reason they might not be taken from different time periods as well. It is a fascinating phenomenon.

Seven years ago. And in your time, I am dead. [She speaks of her death calmly, as if it were another interesting phenomenon worth studying. Yet she is not certain if she wishes to know the manner of her death.] Did we know each other well, Tifa? I take it from your initial reaction that our relationship was antagonistic.

Fascinating? It's not. [She shakes her head.] It's...disturbing.

That's right. [It's surreal, to be having an almost civil conversation with Sephiroth, any version of Sephiroth.] Yes, we did. [Her eyes flash with anger again, briefly. Her hands clench.] And yes, it was. [And still is, as far as she's concerned.]

The fact that we are captives here is disturbing, and I desire nothing more than to return to my men, but imagine if one could travel from world to world at will. It could change society. Humanity. That fascinates me.

[Tifa is clearly an enemy, though Sephiroth has no idea why. She is wary of her, but she does not feel hostile toward her. No, Tifa's knowledge makes her extremely appealing. Sephiroth wants to ask her many things, but she does not know where to begin, and Tifa's hostility means she is an unreliable source of information. How to proceed?] Whatever has passed between us or may in the future, I mean you no harm now. I wonder, do you know any other members of SOLDIER?

[Her jaw tenses.] That sort of power is dangerous. It isn't meant to be used in this way, not by people who would abuse it. [This is said pointedly.]

I-- [She looks startled, and then she shakes her head firmly. Takes a step back.] I don't believe you. And I'm not telling you that.

I did not say I condone this use of such power, for I do not. It is simply that the power itself is interesting.

[It seems her approach was unsuccessful.] Why would I harm you? I have no reason to do so. I do not know you, and I do not attack civilians without cause. I am completely unaware of the origin of the conflict between us. [Was there another war? If only Tifa had answered her question. If what Tifa says is true, and she is dead within the span of a few years, then what of Angeal and Genesis?]

[Her eyes narrow, but she has no retort for that.

...Until Sephiroth mentions not harming civilians. Tifa bites out, impulsively:] It never stopped you before.

[She looks uneasy though, about the mention of their conflict. She would tell, but if this Sephiroth is truly from another time, she's not sure what sort of effect it would have. Instead, she shakes her head. Her posture is defensive: arms crossed, as if she's protecting herself.] I don't have anything else to discuss with you. Just...stay away from me, Sephiroth.

[And the feed clicks off.]

[She remains quiet, watching the mirror after Tifa disappears from it. How--interesting. How unprecedented. She's well-known for her humane treatment of prisoners of war.

What could have happened?

She considers Tifa's request that she stay away. Clearly, she won't be able to do that indefinitely. She is much too curious. But she will proceed with caution.]
