[Upon arriving, her first act was to recover her clothes and her sword. Only after thoroughly surveying the surrounding area and reading the cat's scroll does she attempt to access the Vine.

The image that appears is that of an androgynous woman with silver hair and bright green eyes. She does not seem happy, but then, she doesn't seem particularly upset, either. For thirty seconds or so, she is silent, examining the Vine and the mirror it has produced. She touches the Vine, curiously, and appears intrigued by the way it responds to her. At last, she speaks, in a low, calm voice.]

How interesting. I am unfamiliar with this technology.

[She raises her voice to a normal speaking volume.]

If this is transmitting and someone is receiving, please inform. Identify yourself. This is Sephiroth, of SOLDIER. I repeat, this is Sephiroth, of SOLDIER.

[A pause. When she next speaks, a note of concern is audible in her tone, disturbing the calm of her voice very slightly.]

Angeal, if you receive this, respond.

Well you are right on your first point. However, the source is magic, not technology.

Your second assumption is quite correct, Miss Sephiroth. In fact, most of the inhabitants are in the same position.

Magic-based technology is still technology, is it not? I am of course familiar with the use of magic, though I don't believe that that which cannot yet be defined or measured is necessarily a mystical power.

Thank you for the information. [She considers the woman's words.] Most? Are there very many? I have not yet encountered anyone. I have only communicated to a few people via this Vine.

It is. Is that common on your world?

I would say there are many here. The ones that weren't taken from other worlds appear to be or are connected to our captors.

Much of our technology is influenced by what some call magic. But it is not like this Vine. [She touches it lightly again.] Does your world have things like this?

So there are others here, who are not prisoners? What are they like?

There was an occasion where we used a long-range magical communication medium to follow an Incident underground, but it only had two-way voice and one-way video. Something like this vine is completely unknown.

Well our captor, "the Queen of Hearts" is of questionable sanity. There are other individuals with names like "The High Priestess" who seem to be a bit more sane, but rather tight-lipped as to our purpose.

There's also a monster-queen named Echidna, though we've never seen her. She started a bit of trouble for us.
