Backdated to mid-day Sunday.
[And the mirror opens up to the scene of Alice Margatroid, inside of her house. There isn't the sound of crying coming through, a relief to many, certainly. The only thing in visible sight as of now is the blonde, checking over her vine, as this was a serious matter. Her unamused expression helps for that.]
As I am sure everyone is aware, or damn well hope so, we all had found large eggs that behave like babies a couple days ago. Given that some days have passed, I'm sure a number of us have learned some things.
But this isn't about that, it's about something from before. I hate beating a dead horse, but for those of you who recall a raging flower incident, the task of raising something may seem familiar. If not, just know that we at one point had monster flowers rise up and attack because people sucked at gardening. I don't want a repeat of that, mutant chickens attacking is not my idea of fun. So... does anyone have an idea on how to raise a baby, even if it is an egg?
I'd like to avoid any, um, mutant chickens as well.
[And as luck would have it, Meiling decides to join in and provide some reassurance, even if nobody asked her to. It's not often that she has this kind of opportunity, but she's actually pretty excited about it.]
Don't worry, Alice! Between you and me, our baby will not only grow up healthy, but strong, and intelligent as well!
... Though I don't really know why it's still an egg.
[Passing a glance to the sudden showing of Meiling, Alice gives her a slightly odd look.]
That's all well and good, but I still think we should learn anything we can about... this. And I think it's still an egg because it has yet to hatch. I'm a bit more concerned about it's emotive face, myself.
Now that you mention it, that is somewhat strange. It's an egg, but it expresses itself pretty well!
[She gives it a bit of thought, before coming up with an idea.]
I know! What about going to the library? Surely we could find books there about how to be good mothers! And we might also find something on... what exactly the egg is supposed to be.
While I find that idea skeptical at best... might as well. But where is said egg now? I don't see it...
[A moment of silence on Alice's part before some human shaped dolls, about equal size to the egg fly by in the background.]
If we're going to look after it, I really don't think we should leave it completely alone. After all, it just seems to know when either of us goes to far.
Huh? I thought...
[Meiling takes a quick look around, but isn't able to find their egg anywhere.]
Um, I was hoping you were keeping track of it.
This doesn't bode well for us at all... but my dolls have already located our egg and ensured that nothing has happened.
That's great to hear! [Indeed, she does seem relieved by this news.] But we should probably keep a better eye on it.
[Like you're one to talk, napping gatekeeper.]
Then, if we are not together, we have to make absolutely certain that one of us is with it at all times... though for that we need it back. Speaking of...
[And thus, wrapped in a towel, a doll air delivery of an large egg is carefully let into Alice's arms.] One problem solved, thanks to my fast and well done work.
[Not to be outdone, Meiling feels the need to chime in.] I would've searched too, you know!
[In response, Alice offers a grin.] Now come on, my house isn't that big. Look, if you want to do something for it, why not tell a story?
That's a good idea, actually! Now would be a good time to start telling our child about his fine chinese heritage!
... Right then. Start anytime. [This wasn't exactly what she had in mind, but whatever works...]
(OOC: Alice and Meiling shall be responding in separate threads.)
