[Zinc is sitting before one of the large windows in her home, feet dangling from the upper mezzanine, looking out at the snow. The pale lighting makes her ashen skin all the more pallid. She is singing to herself quietly, it isn't a particularly pleasant sound, voice dry and cracked, ragged and out of tune. The vine is happy to translate what she is saying, and will probably have to do so,]

Tu brises mon coeur...

[She murmurs the little song to herself absentmindely, but gives up somewhere in the middle, lowering her chin to the railing across the edge, staring blankly out the window. Eventually, she gets around to saying something of her own, and even then there's no one else there for her to be speaking to. Does she even know the vine is there? She's not looked at it once, so far.]

[No one else in the Gardens speaks any language Kuja knows, though she is familiar with all the languages of Terra and Gaia. French doesn't stand out to her in the least, automatically translated like any other tongue.]

Why waste your songs or sentiment on one who deserves neither?

[Eep. Zinc startles from her mope, glancing over her shoulder where she sees the mirror. She looks slightly ashamed of herself, mostly because she usually manages to put on a brave face in front of Kuja.]

I don't know. He won't even notice I am away.

"On a quest...for magic dirt...to make an awesome treehouse..."

Yes, Fionna was making this a song. After her encounter with Marceline and Princess Bubblegum, she was still searching fr a place to call her home. She hadn't found it yet but what the hay? She was an adventurer, she would think of something.

And the vines suddenly start to show something new: a woman, singing about stuff. Music was always something that caught Fionna's ear: how could it not, really, in the land of Ooo?

"Hey. That's pretty. What are you singing about?"

True enough. This is all a dream, in which minutes stretch for months.

You should occupy your mind with other things. What purpose does this serve? He isn't worth a moment of your time. [As far as Kuja's concerned, he should be destroyed.]

[He wasn't worth it, but she'd given several years worth to him all the same.]

I wish... he would be happy, for me.

[Maybe that was stupid, to predicate her own happiness on his recognition of it.]

[Yes ma'am. Zinc gives the mirror an uncertain look.]

[Zinc hesitates, she knew she... didn't sing very well. Zombies weren't really known for their music.]

...loving someone too [she pauses, trying to think of the word] free-spirited, to love back.

[She pauses again, a strange look crossing her face. Free-spirited. She's sure the man in question would have rolled his eyes at her if he heard her describe him like that.]

[Fionna looked lost in thought. Love. Maybe she was too young for that? After all, she had only gotten over her crush, right?]

How free spirited? I think I might know someone like that.

[It was... Zinc's first love, her only love, and she didn't know how to make it better.]

He... loves his art, more than anything.

[Fionna had to think of a reply to this. She was fairly aware she knew little to nothing about love, whether art OR people, save for her crush on Gumball and her love for her foster sister and all around companion Cake.]

What kind of art?

[Oh. Uhm. Zinc pauses. That was actually a really awkward question to answer... 'I am.' or 'The dead.' were not going to go over very well...]

He likes figures, people.

[And if this were Finn, he would probably have said something like "Sweet! I like people too!" But Fionna had an idea that this sort of collecting was a little bit different.]

Like how the queen collected us?

Not... exactly. More... skin and bone, than personalities.

S-skin and bones? Why??

He thinks it's beautiful, the way we are put together.

So he just collects them?

Sorta creepy, though if he wanted bones, there are plenty in my world.

[It's all the way creepy.]

He... works on bodies. Reanimates, like me.

[And then to soften the blow of that awkward announcement, she adds on,]

Why are there bones lying about, in your world?

Oh, so he raises the dead...like Marshall Le...I mean, Marceline. Is he a vampire king too?

Yeah, there was this big war before I was born. I dunno what it was about, but I wound up being the last human there. There's still plenty of skeletons and stuff strewn all over Ooo.

Most people try to make sure they know how to sing before they do it in public.

[Zinc makes a slight face, lip curling.]

Why should I care?

Marceline is... a vampire queen?

[She blinks, surprised. She had talked to Marceline, but there had been no mention of queendom.]

You are from her world? The last human?

She didn't tell you that? Huh. Wonder why she'd forget.

[Was she trying to keep that a secret?]

Kinda...its a long story, and I still don't know if I dig it yet. But we're from the land of Ooo, yeah. And I'm supposed to be the last human.

Ooo.

[Zinc looks a little incredulous, but... all sorts of ridiculous things go on in the Garden.]

Ah, well. There are other humans, here.

Yup, Ooo.

[She nods eagerly.] I know, but they're...so weird! And I think I'M weird! Still trying to understand it, and all their stuff.
