[When she woke up, there was a small animal with a stick in its mouth, sitting and looking at her as if it was waiting for something. She lay there wide-eyed for a long moment, because it had no wings and she had never seen its like, but it did nothing unpleasant. Eventually, it set down the stick and trotted away.]

[When she reached for it curiously to see what it was, her fingers bumped it and it unrolled across the ground. There were figures on it, but she could only read a few. Puzzled, she picked it up and turned it one way, then another, peering at it. She could make no sense of it, and turned her attention to the world around her instead - and that was when she realized, she was alone.]

[Distressed, she got unsteadily to her feet and went to the nearest plant, pushing the leaves aside to look past it. There were only more flowers, but something bumped her arm and she looked down to see another unrolling thing emerging from the plant. There was a smaller stick with it, and no symbols. Was she...meant to put symbols on it? Would it help her find him?]

[Hesitantly, she took the stick and made a mark with it, then began painstakingly to write.]
