[there's the sound of someone clearing her throat, then unsteady breathing for a short moment.]

I just--...

Is everyone okay?

[the question wavers for a moment, before the girl stumbles into the rest of her words.]

Did anyone get hurt? It's just, I haven't seen--

[the sound of cloth rustling.]

Never mind.

[anyone by the clock tower will find Xion there, Keyblade in hand, despite the danger of the flowers. She's looking over the destruction caused by her fight with Paderau, when they were monsters. The glass doors are shattered beyond repair, and a large chunk of the wall still clinging to the torn away hinges, the steps littered with shards of glass. Inside, sections of the tracks buckle upward, metal rails torn clean in two, walls gouged by oversized claws and scorch marks. Thankfully the main structural points are still intact, leaving the tower standing.]

I'm sorry, I couldn't....protect it. Is that why you're nowhere I can find?

[she tugs her her hood up closer around her face, and steps carefully into the wreckage.]

Well then, I believe we have all learned a valuable lesson.

When you are told to take care of the flowers you do so.

Actually, I still recommend that you try to avoid hurting the flowers. The ones that aren't attacking you, at any rate. It really is a matter of your own safety.

Now onto better news. Something very precious has been returned to me, and I would like to show you all.

Chen, say hello to everyone.

[ And with that a young-looking girl comes onto a the screen. The green hat on her head and the ears poking out on either side of it can be clearly seen as she smiles confidently at the viewer. ]

I'm Chen! I'm going to be here with Miss Yukari and the rest of you from now on.

[ And with a nod, Chen adds: ] It's wise to listen to Miss Yukari's advice because she's the smartest in Gensokyo! And here too, I bet.

[ooc: Many thanks to Chen-mun for helping write this!]

[There is a new place in the Gardens. Take that worn, narrow path at the far end of the Orchard, and you'll eventually reach the Garden of the Sun.

In the Garden of the Sun, aside from a few narrow paths, everything is covered in massive sunflowers, ranging from a few feet high to towering over the heads of most people. They seem to sway in a way that doesn't quite match the flow of the wind...

Yuka is standing at the highest point in the garden, neither moving or talking without prompting. She's just standing there, looking off at one of the columns of smoke from last night's funeral pyres.

Her expression is difficult to read.]

[All across the Gardens, something is happening.

As the remaining vampire roses bide their time with burnt petals and tattered thorns, their kinder sisters awaken. The giant roses that were taken care of uproot themselves and stalk across the land.

But they ignore its non-vegetative inhabitants. Instead, they track down their fugitive brethren and fling themselves atop their already weakened bodies. And they explode.

Deep red flames burst out across the Gardens, eliminating the last of the rogue flowers. The sacrifice was not in vain.

The fires burn through the night, but do not spread.

As dawn breaks tomorrow, wolves emerge from the woods bearing bronze medals with roses emblazoned on one side, flames on the other, and "IN MEMORIAM" written on both sides. They solemnly present these medals to all those who took care of their flowers.]

[The wolves have brought her a little bronze medal, a strange trinket, she is not sure it is entirely beautiful, but... she runs her fingers over its coverings, fingertips lingering over the letters.]

In memoriam... What memories are we meant to take from this?
